Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Jawan has been in theatres for six weeks now and even after all this time, the film is managing to draw audience in large numbers. On its 42nd day of release, director Atlee’s film made Rs 65 lakh at the box office, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. This takes the film’s domestic nett collection to Rs 637.95 crore.
Jawan is still hosting over 300 shows a day in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR regions, but the occupancy rates have now dropped to 7.5% and 6.5%, respectively. The evening shows, which usually witness the most crowd, are registering only 9% and 10% occupancy rates in both metropolitan regions. Jawan has enjoyed a great run at the cinemas, and it now seems like the film is close to running its course. The film’s worldwide gross collection now stands at Rs 1140.5 crore.
Since the release of Jawan, not many Hindi films apart from Fukrey 3 have managed to leave a mark at the box office. The third part of the comedy franchise, starring Richa Chadha, Varun Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi and Pulkit Samrat, started its box office journey with Rs 8.82 crore and has since hit the Rs 122 crore mark at the global box office.
Jawan, which also starred Priyamani, Sanya Malhotra, Nayanthara and Deepika Padukone, had the biggest box office opening ever seen by a Hindi film as it made Rs 75 crore across all languages on day one. It is currently the highest earner of the year, and the biggest Bollywood release of all time in India, but it is yet to be seen if it will cross the worldwide collection of Yash-starrer KGF Chapter 2. The Prashanth Neel film made Rs 1215 crore when it released in 2022.
Shah Rukh Khan and director Prashanth Neel are set to face off against one another in December with Dunki and Salaar. SRK has had a great comeback year, with Jawan and Pathaan delivering a combined global gross of Rs 2100 crore. His third release of the year, Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki, is expected to face off against Prashanth Neel’s Salaar, which stars Prabhas in the lead role. Dunki’s release has been announced for Christmas 2023.
