Ravi Kishan doesn’t need any introduction. A superstar in the Bhojpuri cinema, he has also worked extensively in Hindi films as well as Telugu and Kannada films. Though he did not play a lead role in those films, as a supporting actor too, Ravi left his mark on the audience.

Ravi Kishan is a massive star in Bhojpuri cinema, and he himself admitted once that he does Bollywood roles for “personal satisfaction”. In an interview with IANS, the actor once shared, “In Bhojpuri cinema, I have to play larger than life roles. Here (in Bollywood) I can play smaller characters. I do this for my own personal satisfaction. I get to play different shades. Right from Tere Naam, I have done different characters.”

Laapataa Ladies (2024)

Kiran Rao’s film won many hearts and also set the box office on fire, and Ravi Kishan’s role in the film just cannot be missed. The actor played the role of Inspector Shyam Manohar, a quirky yet sharp-witted police officer in rural India. While he appears comical and carefree on the surface, he’s actually clever and observant. He was the one who gradually unraveling the mystery of the “missing brides”. Ravi Kishan well portrayed a role which needed a perfect balance of humor and sincerity, making it one of the standout performances in the film.

Phir Hera Pheri (2006)

 

Ravi Kishan plays the character named Chhote, who was one half of the comic gangster duo “Chhote and Babu Bhaiya”, working for the main villain Tiwari (played by Sharat Saxena). Ravi Kishan’s character in the film was loud, over-the-top, and comically threatening, perfectly fitting the film’s slapstick tone. Ravi Kishan did not have a major role in the film but he appears in several hilarious sequences involving guns, ransom, and mistaken identities. Ravi Kishan’s exaggerated acting and comic timing left a memorable impression. His chemistry with Manoj Joshi (as Babu Bhaiya) and interactions with the central trio (Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal) added extra flavor to the film’s final, confusion-filled scenes.

Tere Naam (2003)

Ravi Kishan played the role of Aslam, a close friend of the main character Radhe, portrayed by Salman Khan. Ravi Kishan’s character was a part of Radhe’s small group of loyal friends. He provides emotional and moral support during Radhe’s tumultuous love story and downward spiral. His character reflected Radhe’s bond with his community and highlights the strong friendship themes in the film. In Tere Naam too, the actor was not the lead role but his role stood out.

Luck (2009)


Ravi Kishan plays the grey character with remarkable ease in this film. His character was named Raghav Raghuvaran, also referred to as Raghu. Ravi Kishan’s bold and edgy performance stood out in a film filled with action and suspense. His role brought raw energy and unpredictability, earning him praise for holding his own alongside stars like Sanjay Dutt, Imran Khan, and Mithun Chakraborty.

Bullet Raja (2013)


In this film, Ravi Kishan played the role of Sumer Yadav, a local politician and one of the key antagonists in the film. He is part of the corrupt political-criminal nexus that the main characters—Raja Mishra (Saif Ali Khan) and Rudra (Jimmy Shergill)—come into conflict with. He was cunning and ambitious, power-hungry, and played a critical role in escalating the gang wars and political rivalries that form the heart of the film’s plot. Though he was again not the lead, but Ravi Kishan brought a strong screen presence and his performance added intensity and realism to the gritty world of politics, betrayal, and crime depicted in the film.

Batla House (2019)

Ravi Kishan played the role of Inspector KK (Kishan Kumar Verma), a brave, no-nonsense, and duty-bound officer. His role is crucial in the early part of the film, especially during the intense encounter sequence, which is the film’s central event. Though his screen time is limited, Ravi Kishan’s performance was powerful and emotionally resonant.
