Bollywood star Govinda recently took to Instagram to address a viral tweet that condemned violence in Haryana, clarifying that his Twitter account had been hacked. In a video shared on his Instagram profile, the actor expressed his shock at the unauthorised tweet and assured fans that he has no association with it.

In the Instagram video, he said, “Please do not attribute Haryana’s tweet to me. I have not done this. Somebody has hacked my account. I’m complaining to cyber crime now. I will look into the matter.” He reiterated the same sentence in Hindi, addressing his fans in Haryana. The actor also shared that he hasn’t used his Twitter account for years.

He captioned the video, “Just got a call from @mumbaigirl14 about a Tweet. I would like say that my Twitter account has been Hacked so please do not attribute the Haryana tweet to me.I have not posted it.”

The controversial tweet in question had sparked backlash on social media, where Govinda was subjected to trolling and criticism. The tweet was written in response to a video from Haryana. It read, “What have we come down to? Shame on the people who call themselves Hindus and do such things. Aman aur shanti banaye, hum democracy hai, autocracy nahi!”

Although Govinda is not actively involved in politics at present, he had previously served as a Congress Member of Parliament from 2004 to 2009. During that time, he had been elected from Maharashtra’s Mumbai North constituency after defeating BJP leader Ram Naik.
