After becoming the best Hollywood opener of the year in India, Fast X’s box office collection, as its title suggests, is quickly climbing up the chart. After minting Rs 26.10 crore in India in its first two days, the film earned approximately Rs 16.20 crore on day 3, as reported by industry tracker Sacnilk. This brings the total collection to Rs 42.30 crore from all languages — English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.

As per the website, the Rs 16.20 crore has been divided as Rs 8.25 crore in English and Hindi at Rs 7.1 crore, Telugu earned Rs 0.3 crore, while Rs 0.55 crore was scored thanks to its Tamil-language screenings. The Vin Diesel and Jason Momoa‘s film had an overall 28.22 per cent occupancy in the English-speaking market. If the numbers continue to be the same, the film is looking at closing the weekend at almost Rs 60 crore. Apart from The Kerala Story, which is already 2 weeks old now, the film doesn’t even have any competition right now.

Starring Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jason Momoa, among others, the actioner was released on Thursday. It is the 10th film in the Fast and Furious franchise. As per Hollywood Reporter, the latest installment of the Hollywood franchise is headed for a massive $320 million collection globally. While it’s a promising start, the film is seeing lower openings overall in the US.

The Fast saga began over two decades ago with Vin Diesel and Paul Walker playing two guys on either side of the law. The latest film, directed by Louis Leterrier, also features a plethora of stars, ranging from Brie Larson to John Cena and Jason Statham.

While fans continue to throng cinema halls, the film received mixed reviews from critics. Shalini Langer, in her review for The Indian Express, wrote, “However, there is only once that the film actually gives glimpses of what it meant once to be along for the ride on these testosterone-driven vehicles. It is when a bomb the size of several tonnes is hurtling down Rome streets, threatening the Vatican itself, and must be stopped. That is an audacious idea, but as basic as it gets, with none of the mumbo-jumbo about what’s under the hood of a car surrounding it. Sometimes it’s better to be silly than over-smart.”
