A versatile and successful star, the death of Divya Bharti left the film industry in shock. The actor was 19 at the time of her death and was the face of over 10 films. She was also among the highest-paid Indian actresses of her time. After featuring in Telugu films, she progressed to Hindi cinema in 1992 with the action thriller, Vishwatma (1992). The 1992 action-comedy Shola Aur Shabnam marked a turning point in her career. Deewana, alongside Shah Rukh Khan, which also released in the same year, won her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut.
On the personal front, Divya Bharti was married to producer Sajid Nadiadwala. Divya Bharti and Sajid Nadiadwala got married in 1992 as soon as she turned 18. She also accepted Islam and changed her name to Sana. The actor died on 5 April 1993, after falling from the balcony of the fifth floor of her apartment in Mumbai. The mysterious circumstances of her death remains a topic of discussion to this day.
The filmmaker Sajid Nadiadwala is known for many successful films like Baghi, Tamasha, Housefull, 2 States, Kick, and so on. He has also shaped the career of many Bollywood actors. However, after Divya Bharti’s death, Sajid Nadiadwala had to face a lot of hatred. Even his present wife, Wardha Khan Nadiadwala, has been trolled over the years.

Sajid Nadiadwala met Wardha Khan on Divya Bharti’s first death anniversary. Wardha was a journalist back then and met Sajid for an interview. In an old interview, she shared, “I used to find ways to meet him – stories, interviews or just land up on his shoot and sit and chat with him.”
She spoke about the hate too. “I know people keep throwing these questions sometimes. Sometimes, they think I am being trolled. Divya is still very much a part of our lives. Her family, her dad, her brother Kunal, they are like our family, they are a part of each celebration. So when you guys try to troll me, please know that I am not getting trolled. On her anniversaries and birthdays, we speak to each other. When my children watch her movies, they call her ‘Badi Mummy’. So, guys, she is still a very, very beautiful part of our lives,” shared Wardha Nadiadwala in an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama.
Sharing about the bond that Sajid and Divya’s families shared, she said, “Sajid is so close, Sajid is like a son to dad, after mumma (Divya’s mother) passed away. You can’t even imagine how close dad and Sajid are. And Kunal and Sajid… they talk just like brothers would. And I have not tried to replace her ever. I have made my own place. Memories are always beautiful. So, stop trolling me! She is a part of my life, and we are enjoying. Sometimes people say, ‘Divya Bharti bahot acchi thi. Of course, bahot acchi thi yaar. We love her. She is very much a part of my life.”
