Diljit Dosanjh joins Border 2 alongside Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, shares announcement video: ‘Pehli goli dushman chalaega aur akhri goli hum’

Diljit Dosanjh is now a part of Sunny Deol's Gadar 2. Earlier this year, Diljit was seen in Imtiaz Ali's musical film Amar Singh Chamkila.

Border 2, which stars Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan, will also star Diljit Dosanjh, the makers announced on Friday. The makers of the film took to social media to share an announcement video with a voice-over from Diljit. The text in the video reads, “The bravest of the brave come together for the biggest war.”

Diljit then can be heard saying, “Iss desh ki taraf uthne vali har nazar, jhuk jaati hai khauf se, inn sarhado par jab
guru ke paas pehra dete hain.” The film is being directed by Anurag Singh who has worked extensively with Diljit in the Punjabi film industry. The duo collaborated on Punjab 1984, which is often seen as one of Diljit’s best performances on screen. They have also worked together on Disco Singh, Super Singh, and the first two parts of Jatt and Juliet.

Diljit shared on Instagram, “Pehli Goli Dushman Chalaega aur Akhri Goli Hum! Honoured to stand with such a powerful team 🇮🇳🙏🏻 and walk in the footsteps of our Soldiers!”

Border 2 is a part of the Border franchise. The first film released in 1997 and starred Sunny Deol, Akshaye Khanna, Suniel Shetty, Jackie Shroff, Puneet Issar, Sudesh Berry. The film was based on the Battle of Longewala during the India-Pakistan War of 1971.

Previously, there had been some rumours about the sequel of Border but the official announcement happened after the success of Gadar 2. Released in 2023, Gadar 2 turned out to be the biggest hit of Sunny’s career of over 40 years. Apart from Border 2, the actor will also be seen in Lahore 1947, which also stars Preity Zinta, and is being directed by Rajkumar Santoshi.

In an earlier chat with Ranveer Allahbadia, Deol had said that Border 2 was first being made in 2015 but was shelved because his films weren’t working at the box office at the time. “We wanted to do this even earlier. I remember in 2015… But then my film didn’t work. So log ghabra ke nahi banana chah rahe the (People were scared to make it). Now everyone wants to make that,” he said.

Border 2 is scheduled to release on January 23, 2026.
