Deva box office collection Day 1 early estimates: Shahid Kapoor film might not beat opening day numbers of Tere Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya

According to early estimates, Shahid Kapoor's Deva might not beat Akshay Kumar-Veer Pahariya's Sky Force to have the highest opening collection for a Hindi film in 2025.

Deva box office collection Day 1 early estimatesDeva receives a rather cold response on its first Friday.

With Deva, Shahid Kapoor is back to the big screen with an action-packed film for the first time in a few years. The movie, directed by Rosshan Andrrews, is inspired by his own 2010 Malayalam film, Mumbai Police, headlined by Prithviraj Sukumaran. According to trade website Sacnilk, the movie was expected to make around Rs 4-5 crore on the opening day. However, the early estimates for the morning, afternoon, and evening shows suggest that the film might actually struggle to hit the mark.

As of 9 pm, the film is expected to make around Rs 2.82 crore with the film’s prospects hinging on word-of-mouth, and the night show reservations. Deva only managed to have a 5.87% occupancy in the morning show, with the afternoon and evening shows faring slightly better at 9.18% and 9.77%, respectively. However, it is to be noted that these are just estimates, and the numbers might get quite a boost when the final tally settles in.

Deva could make considerable inroads in the reservations for the night shows, and the weekend shows to end up with a much better figure at the box-office. Interestingly, Shahid Kapoor’s previous theatrical release, Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, ended up with a decent opening day number of Rs 6.7 crore in the domestic market. However, considering the trend, Deva might not match the opening numbers of the recent Akshay Kumar-Veer Pahariya film, Sky Force, which became the highest-opening Hindi film of 2025. Other movies that make the top 3 list, include Emergency and Fateh, which made Rs 2.5 crore, and Rs 2.4 crore, respectively. It does seem like Deva would zoom into second position in this list.

But it is interesting how, despite the seemingly whirlwind promotions, and the success of the music of Deva, the film could only manage a 8.27% occupancy in the country.

Apart from Shahid Kapoor, Deva also stars Pooja Hegde, Kubbra Sait, and Pavail Gulati in pivotal roles. With background score by Jakes Bejoy and songs by the Malayalam composer and Vishal Mishra, Deva is shot by Amit Roy, and edited by Sreekar Prasad.
