Actor Trupti Khamkar, who was recently seen in Kareena Kapoor, Tabu, and Kriti Sanon starrer Crew, spoke about her experience during the shoot of the film. Trupti said that she was expected to finish the work assigned for a 12-hour shift in just 30 minutes and her work only started after the lead cast left the sets. Trupti mentioned that she was there to give cues to her co-actors throughout the day but at the end of the day, when she had to give her shot, there was no one to give her cues.
In an interview with Zoom, Trupti shared, “When you are working with a star cast, it is obvious that first their work will be done, and they will go home. Then your work will start. So many times, it used to happen that in a 12-hour shift, all the cameras were on them. I was standing there giving them cues and then they would leave. Then there would be the last half-hour of the shift left, and I was told, ‘Trupti, how much work has been done today for the film, do it in half an hour.’ Then I was like, ‘Alright, I’ll do it’.”
Trupti said that after working in Crew, she believes she can take on any challenge. She said that she had to be alert as to how the scenes were being shot during the day so she could give an appropriate reaction shot when it was her time to shoot. “I think that was a great learning process. I have a masters degree in theatre, but that learning won’t help. The training you receive on set is different. You have to keep an eye all the time on which scenes you are in throughout the entire day. Co-actors won’t give you cues. You have to see how the other people delivered their lines and then decide how you have to reply to them in the same way. After Crew, I feel like I can work on any challenging set because I have been trained through this film for it,” she said.
Crew is a comedy heist that also stars Diljit Dosanjh and Kapil Sharma.
