AR Rahman’s son AR Ameen denies any link between parents’, Mohini Dey’s divorce: ‘Disheartening to see baseless rumours’

AR Rahman’s son AR Ameen has broken his silence of the speculations that his parents’ divorce and the divorce of Rahman’s bassist Mohini Dey are linked. Ameen took to his social media and shared a screenshot which read that there was ” no connection between Rahman, Dey divorces” and also shared a long note.

Ameen shared that it was “disheartening to see false and baseless rumours being spread.” He also requested the people to preserve AR Rahman’s dignity. His note read, “My father is a legend, not just for his incredible contributions, but for the values, respect, and love he has earned over the years. It’s disheartening to see false and baseless rumours being spread. Let us all remember the importance of truth and respect when speaking about someone’s life and legacy. Please refrain from engaging in or spreading such misinformation. Let’s honour and preserve his dignity and the incredible impact he has had on all of us.”

AR Rahman’s son shared this on Instagram.

Previously, Saira Banu and Rahman’s lawyer Vandana Shah claimed that there was no link between the two divorces. “There is no link between the two. Saira and Mr Rahman have taken this decision on their own. There is no link between the two news at all,” she told Republic TV. Vandana said that she not at liberty to discuss the reason behind their divorce but shared, “He has been a protective husband. She has been a good wife. I don’t have to speculate. I know the real reason but I’m not at liberty to discuss that.” She also added, “They are both committed to building better lives with or without each other.”

On Tuesday, the former couple issued a statement announcing their divorce after 29 years of marriage. A part of their statement read, “After many years of marriage, Mrs Saira and her husband Mr AR Rahman have made the difficult decision to separate from each other. This decision comes after significant emotional strain in their relationship. Despite their deep love for each other, the couple has found that the tensions and difficulties have created an insurmountable gap between them, one that neither party feels able to bridge at this time. Mrs Saira and her husband Mr AR Rahman emphasize that they have taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira and her husband Mr AR Rahman request privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as they navigate this difficult chapter in their life.”
