Actor Jackie Shroff said that he has no problem whatsoever about playing Anil Kapoor’s elder brother in movies, even though he’s the younger of the two. He also said that he has no ego issues about playing second leads, because he’s been doing that all his career. Jackie has played Anil’s elder brother in films such as Ram Lakhan, Trimurti, Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja and Parinda.
In an interview with Lehren, he was asked if he ever felt that this was unjust, and the actor said that he never minded. “I’m maybe double-boned, and he’s a little slender. I’m an elephant, I’m heavier, which is why I always come across as the elder brother. If he ever meets me, he makes sure to touch my feet, so that people also think that I’m the older one,” he said with a laugh.
Looking back at their bond, Jackie recalled the first time that they met. “We have an equation, we don’t have to meet and hang around every day, but when we meet, we go back to that first time we met, when he came to Napaen Sea Road to meet his girlfriend, now wife. He said, ‘Jaggu, I want to dress up like you’. We spoke a little. I remember that time,” he said, adding, “We have a clear understanding, we’re not like, ‘Aur bhidu, kya ho raha hai’ everyday. But when we meet, it’s fire. Both of us as brothers are fire…”
Both Jackie and Anil are praised for how young they look, despite being over 66 years old. While Anil was born in December 1956, Jackie was born in February 1957. They last worked together on the film Total Dhamaal, although Jackie only had a voice role.
