When legendary cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi passed away, celebrities from the cricket and film world offered their condolences to his actor-son Angad Bedi. One of the many tweets was that of actor Salman Khan, who also later called Angad and spoke to him at length about his loss. Angad said that Salman spoke to him for 20 minutes and had always looked out for him.

Salman had tweeted his condolence to Angad and written, “My dear brother Angad it saddens me to hear abt your dad,Wat a bowler n wat a man,we as a family have loved n respected him.God bless his soul. Now u r the head of the family. Upar wala sir dekh ke Sardari deta hai. Your dad was a legend brother. Love u. @Imangadbedi.”

In an interview with news18, Angad shared everything about the phone call shared between him and Salman. He said that Salman first sent him a text and then the two got talking on a phone call.

“Post my father’s demise, he sent me a message and said, ‘I have put out a tweet for you. Read it and I hope it makes sense to you.’ He later called and spoke to me for 20 minutes. I told him I’ll respond to him on social media because I knew the context. It’s a beautiful bond that I share with him and his family. He has really looked out for me. I really appreciate and respect his presence in my life.”

Angad and Salman shared the screen in 2017 film Tiger Zinda Hai, in which Angad played the role of Captain Nimit Khanna, while Salman played the titular character. Salman’s tweet had a dialogue from their film. The younger actor reveals how the dialogue came to be.

“It was special because it was made on the spot. During Tiger Zinda Hai, he had said that there has to be a scene between Angad and me. Namit, my character in the film, and Tiger share a special bond. Ali (Abbas Zafar, director) asked him, ‘What do you want to say?’ He said, ‘Ek moment hona chahiye.’ He thought about it and came up with ‘Upar wala sar dekh ke Sardari deta hai’,” said Angad.

Bishan Singh Bedi passed away on October 23 due to prolonged illness.
