Ameesha Patel says she was offered Shah Rukh’s Chalte Chalte, Munna Bhai MBBS, Salman’s Tere Naam: ‘There were a lot of reasons…’

Ameesha Patel is celebrating the humungous success of Gadar 2 as this marks a big comeback for the actor who first tasted fame with her debut film Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. After her big debut with Hrithik Roshan, Ameesha appeared in Gadar with Sunny Deol, which again turned out to be a colossal hit. But, in a recent interview, the actor revealed that soon after her success in these films, she was offered many star vehicles which she turned down.

When ETimes asked her about the films she regretted turning down, she said that films like Chalte Chalte starring Shah Rukh Khan, Munna Bhai MBBS starring Sanjay Dutt, and Tere Naam starring Salman Khan, came her way but she had to turn them down. “There were lots of films I couldn’t do. I turned them down because of date issues so I couldn’t regret it,” she said.

Patel said that there were many reason as to why she couldn’t do these films as she had already committed to other projects. “I had already committed,” she said.

Chalte Chalte starred Rani Mukerji with Shah Rukh Khan. Sanjay Dutt starrer Munnabhai MBBS featured Gracy Singh, who made her film debut with Aamir Khan’s Lagaan and Tere Naam starred Bhumika Chawla with Salman.

In the early 2000s, Ameesha starred in films like Humraaz, Mangal Pandey: The Rising, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, among others. She was later seen in a cameo in YRF’s Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic.

Ameesha starerr Gadar 2 has become the second highest Hindi grosser of 2023. In just a week’s time, the film has grossed Rs 308.5 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk, making it the biggest of Ameesha’s career. In the same interview, the actor expressed her intention to work with Hrithik Roshan again as the on-screen couple’s chemistry was loved by the audience in the debut film.
