Shekhar Kapur recently opened up about love and romance in his life. During the discussion, the filmmaker revealed that while he has experienced numerous relationships, all of them were grounded in mutual respect. Shekhar was previously married to actor Suchitra Krishnamoorthi, who in the past has hinted at his infidelity during their eight-year-long marriage.
In an interview with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Shekhar spoke about the importance of respect in a relationship. He said, “I have had many relationships. Without romance, I don’t have a life. However, I never had a relationship that didn’t have respect. So, the nature of the relationship changed. Though it didn’t have romance, sexual or the promise to live with each other, but that relationship remained. When you get to know a person so much in a relationship then how do you leave that? If that relationship didn’t have respect than it will not remain. All my relationships, of whichever type, they always had/have respect and which is why they all are my friends.”
In an earlier conversation with Siddharth Kannan, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi addressed the issue of infidelity in their marriage. She admitted that Shekhar had been unfaithful. When asked if this betrayal shattered her, she responded, “I don’t think marriages break because of infidelity, they break up because of disrespect.”
Suchitra and Shekhar were married for eight long years. They tied the knot in 1999 and parted ways in 2007. They are parents to daughter Kaveri Kapur.
