In 2020, Aditya Narayan made headlines after purchasing a luxurious 5 BHK home in Mumbai’s Andheri, reportedly worth Rs 10.5 crore. The actor-singer-TV host chose a location just three buildings away from his parents’ residence. In a recent interview, Aditya clarified that the lavish property was bought entirely with his own earnings — not with any financial help from his father, legendary playback singer Udit Narayan.
Speaking with Bharti Singh and Haarsh Limbachiyaa on their YouTube channel Bharti TV, Aditya opened up about his love for being at home and the pride he takes in owning it. “I have bought an extremely beautiful house. I worked very hard and waited a long time to be able to afford my dream home in Mumbai,” he said. “Sometimes, I just sit and admire the place. The 12-foot ceiling fascinates me — it’s a luxury in Mumbai, where most homes have much lower ceilings. I used to live in a house with a much smaller ceiling”, said Aditya.
Haarsh, who has worked closely with Aditya on several reality shows added: “Just to make it clear, the house Adi is talking about is one he bought entirely with his own hard-earned money,” he said. “It’s important to mention this because when you are the child of a celebrity, people often assume all your achievements are handed to you.” Bharti echoed the sentiment, adding, “Yeah, people randomly assume that his father must have bought the house for him.”
Aditya agreed and reflected on the challenges of being the child of a celebrated personality. He said: “It’s not easy being the child of legendary parents. Very few people understand that. I consider myself fortunate that, despite my father’s fame, I have been able to carve out my own identity. People appreciate me for my own work, not just as someone’s son.”
In the same conversation, Aditya revealed that he started earning at the age of six and became a taxpayer by the age of seven. He began his career as a child artist and notably played Salman Khan’s son in the 1998 film Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, earning Rs 3.5 lakh for the role. “My parents bought a yellow Zen car with that money,” he recalled.
Aditya was also part of the Little Wonders troupe, performing globally and earning money throughout his childhood. At 18, he landed his first major gig as a host on Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007, for which he was paid Rs 15,000 per episode.
“We shot around 52 episodes in the first season, and I earned approximately Rs 8 lakh,” he shared. “By the second season, I was being paid Rs 25,000 per episode.” Aditya remained a constant presence on the show until 2022.
In an earlier interview with Hindustan Times, Aditya had confirmed the cost of his current home after reports speculated he bought it for Rs 4 crore. “It actually cost me Rs 10.5 crore. I have been working since I was a child. Television pays well,” he had said.
Aditya is married to his Shaapit co-star Shweta Agarwal. The couple moved into their new home after their wedding, where they now live with their daughter, Tvisha.
