Amid controversies and an announcement to change a few of its dialogues, Om Raut’s epic Adipurush earned an impressive Rs 340 crore gross at the worldwide box office during its first weekend. The Prabhas and Kriti Sanon film released on June 16 and was met with widely mixed reactions. However, the trolling hasn’t impacted the film’s box office numbers. Adipurush day 3 box office collection was shared by its producers T-Series, “Adipurush continues to captivate audiences across generations, crossing an astounding ₹340 crores on the opening weekend at the box office! Jai Shri Ram 🙏.”
Adipurush has become the second film after Pathaan to earn Rs 300 crore within three days this year. While Pathaan earned Rs 313 crore gross worldwide in the first weekend, the Prabhas-starrer has minted Rs 340 crore. The box office collection was announced amid a massive backlash that the film is receiving.
“I can give countless arguments in favour of my dialogues, but this will not reduce your pain. Me and the producer-director of the film have decided that some of the dialogues which are hurting you, we’ll revise them, and they’ll be added to the film this week. May Shri Ram bless you all!” he wrote. He had earlier said that Adipurush is not Ramayan but inspired by the epic.
T Series also released a statement, “Team Adipurush in respect of Public Opinion, Revamps Dialogues for a Unifying Film Experience valuing the input of the public and the audience. The dialogues are being modified in consultation & advice of CBFC.”
Adipurush has faced criticism for its visual effects as well. The team had to delay the film for a few months as they fixed audience complaints in the department after the first look of the film was released. The film, based on the epic Ramayana, features Prabhas as Raghava, Kriti Sanon as Janaki, and Saif Ali Khan as Ravana. With a reported budget of Rs 500 crore, the movie also stars Sunny Singh and Devdatta Nage as Lakshman and Hanuman, respectively.
