Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist Aamir Khan is currently on a break. Following the underwhelming response to his previous movie Laal Singh Chaddha (2022, Dir. Advait Chandan) at the box office, Aamir had recently expressed that he would only embark on a new film when he felt emotionally prepared.
Nonetheless, film circles are currently abuzz as a video showing the actor in a recording studio has gone viral. Though there is no confirmation regarding the nature of Aamir’s activities or whether he is recording a song, his fans are excited, interpreting it as a sign that the actor is gradually making a comeback after his hiatus.
In a video that singer Sona Mohapatra shared on social media, composer Ram Sampath can be seen giving directions to Aamir Khan while he is in the recording studio. Although the brief 19-second video doesn’t reveal much, it has sparked the curiosity of Aamir’s fans, who are now eagerly speculating about what exciting project might be in the works.
Although Aamir displayed his singing talent in the past by lending his voice to the unforgettable song “Aati Kya Khandala” from Ghulam (1998), he refrained from singing extensively in the subsequent years. Nevertheless, “Aati Kya Khandala” continues to resonate with millions of people, and his melodious duet with Alka Yagnik remains a timeless favourite.
While taking part in the trailer launch of the Punjabi movie Carry On Jatta 3 in Mumbai recently, Aamir Khan was asked about his next project as after Laal Singh Chadha, he has not announced a film. Responding to this question, he said, “I haven’t signed any film yet. I just want to spend time with my family and I am doing just that. When I am emotionally ready to do a film, I will definitely do it.”
Despite being highly anticipated, Laal Singh Chaddha, the official adaptation of the Hollywood film Forrest Gump, had failed at the box office. In her review of the film, The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta wrote, “It’s not just the pace of the film which is the trouble. It is also, centrally and crucially, Sardar Laal Singh Chaddha himself, as played by Aamir Khan.”
