The inauguration of the Ayodhya Ram temple has been scheduled for January 22, 2024, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and several dignitaries being invited for the ceremony.
The temple is located at the Ram Janmabhoomi, which is believed by many to be the birthplace of Lord Ram, in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.
The base, with the six smaller temples surrounding the main temple complex which houses the sanctum sanctorum, are almost ready. The first and second floors of the temple are also expected to be constructed by December, 2024.
The responsibility has been entrusted to Larsen and Toubro, with Tata Consulting Engineers Limited managing the work. Ahmedabad-based architects Chandrakant Sompura (81) and his son Ashish (51), have designed the temple complex.
According to the temple trust website, the main temple complex is constructed on an area of 2.7 acres.
The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra, which has been overseeing the temple construction, provides various donation options on its site for voluntary contributions through cheque, fund transfer or UPI, with account details provided.
The total land allocated to the temple trust is 70 acres, with the main temple complex where the idol of Lord Ram will be placed covering 2.7 acres of it.
The Ram Mandir is being funded by various sources, including public donations and government funding, with an estimated cost of Rs. 1800 crore needed for its construction.
Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra was formed by the government for the construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya, with Mahant Nritya Gopal Das as its president. The trust has 15 members, of which 12 were nominated by the Government of India and 3 selected during the first meeting.
