Successor to the Galaxy S, Samsung's Galaxy S II was one of the fastest phones of its time. The phone was an instant hit, selling more than 20 million units in a year.

When Apple was struggling to innovate and Nokia had lost its market pull, Samsung launched the Galaxy S III. The flagship phone ticked all the boxes and made Samsung one of the largest phone maker in the market.

In 2013, Samsung launched the Galaxy S4. While the phone had all the specs one would expect from a flagship device and was a hit, it failed to impress critics.

While the Galaxy S5 packed top of the line hardware like a FullHD AMOLED display and a quad core processor, the only thing that was outdated was the phone's plasticky design.

The Galaxy S6 marked a turnaround in the Galaxy S series lineup. It was the first phone by Samsung to sport a metal and glass design. That combined with its curved edge screen made it an instant hit.
