Other studies showed that when breakfast eaters are told to swerve the cereal/ porridge/ eggs or whatever, they seem to overeat in the next meal.

This really highlights the reality that everyone's eating pattern is different- the pattern which works for you might not work for someone else.

If you serve breakfast but get to the office and snack on low-fibre, nutrient poor cookies, then that's clearly not a health-giving and gut-loving move.

But if you delay breakfast and then have a bowl of high fibre porridge or sourdough with eggs, tomato and kimchi a little later on? Then: boom- a happy gut and the fuel you need to get your day done is the result.

She further added, "Children are slightly different, especially of school age- I believe a wholesome breakfast before school is important for kids."
