Sudha Murthy reveals tales of simplicity on The Kapil Sharma Show

Chairperson of the Infosys Foundation, Sudha Murthy recently appeared on The Kapil Sharma Show, and had a great conversation about women empowerment, her husband Narayana Murthy, son-in-law Rishi Sunak and daughter Akshata.

The Murthys' daughter is married to British Prime minister Rishi Sunak. This reminded Sudha of an incident when an immigration officer was left confused after seeing her travel documents.

Sudha revealed that in her immigration form, she had written that her London address is 10 Downing Street -  the official residence and office of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

The immigration officer asked Sudha, "Are you joking?" but Sudha tried to convince him. She said, "No one believes that I, a 72 year old, simple lady, can be the mother-in-law of the Prime Minister."

During the show, Sudha also revealed that she and Narayana Murthy didn't take a holiday for 30 years after they started Infosys.

Sudha said, "When we started Infosys, for the next 30 years we didn’t go for a holiday because Narayana Murthy was always working. He used to tour for 220 days in a year."

Recollecting an emotional incident, Sudha revealed how she recently traveled to Tata Motors to see 300 women engineers. She revealed that she felt proud seeing the women, and remembered how her father, RH Kulkarni, encouraged her to pursue her dream.

"In those days, when everybody was against the decision of letting me do engineering, he (father) fought with them and let me chase my dreams," Sudha said.
