Recently, the actor issued a public warning after discovering an individual was impersonating her on WhatsApp. The scammer was messaging photographers with fraudulent "photoshoot offers" using her name and pictures.
The actor shared that a person using her name and picture on WhatsApp has been contacting people. She alerted everyone and confirmed that she is not involved. She also called out the person responsible for this unacceptable behaviour.
The actor used social media to alert his followers to a scam where an account was reaching out to people, claiming to be his manager and offering opportunities to connect with him. He emphasized that these messages were not legitimate and warned fans not to click on links or share personal details.
The actor revealed earlier that an unknown person was using a still from her film Baksho Bondi as their WhatsApp display picture to seek favors from people she knows. She publicly called out the fraudster, clarifying that the number was not hers and demanding they stop using her name.
A fan of the actor was scammed out of a significant amount of money (around Rs 50 lakh) by fraudsters who created an elaborate story about Malhotra being in danger. Following which Malhotra took to Instagram to issue a note urging fans to exercise caution and report suspicious requests to the authorities.
The singer also alerted his fans to be wary of any suspicious or fake messages sent under his name, asking them to report or block such accounts.
