A viral DIY mask composed of mashed banana, rice flour, and curd is gaining popularity for claiming to mimic the effects of botox.
Dr. DM Mahajan clarifies that while the mask can improve skin health, it cannot replace botox, which paralyses muscles to reduce wrinkles caused by muscular contractions.
Dr. Henna Sharma notes that the potassium in bananas may offer a temporary tightening effect, similar to botox's quick plumping action. But it is temporary and does not address long-term muscle relaxation or deeper wrinkles.
The DIY mask is believed to contribute to a more radiant complexion, smoother skin, and improved hydration, offering natural skincare solutions.
Mashed bananas provide vitamins and antioxidants, promoting elasticity. Rice flour exfoliates, unclogs pores, and brightens the skin. Curd, with lactic acid, gently exfoliates and benefits the skin's microbiome.
Despite its benefits, the mask may not be suitable for everyone, and individuals should be mindful of potential allergic reactions to its ingredients.
The acidity in curd may cause irritation, making it unsuitable for those with sensitive skin, and people with severe acne or rosacea are advised against its use.
A patch test before full-face application is recommended to ensure compatibility with skin.
