Portraits | Armaan Jaffer: Indian Cricket's Rising Star

Right from a young age, Armaan Jaffer has been hungry, focused and grounded. This 18-year-old, unassuming lad from Mumbai, plays for the state team in the Ranji trophy. He first came into limelight with his record run in U-14 Giles Shield tournament in 2010. He bettered it with his stunning performance in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy 2015-16. With a very straight game, Jaffer has scored tons of runs in Mumbai age-group cricket and made a useful contribution to India's campaign at the U-19 World Cup in Bangladesh. Armaan, in many ways, is almost a facsimile of his uncle Wasim Jaffer, one of the finest opening batsmen for India. There are lofty expectations from this child prodigy whose unique style of batting has caught the fancy of many cricket lovers.
