WWE Champion Jinder Mahal has gone from strength to strength since clinching the title in WWE Backlash earlier in the year. He is the first man of Indian origin who has won the belt and has enjoyed something of a meteoric rise over the past year and a half. Jinder Mahal has seen it all. In 2014, he was released by WWE because of what he called being "unmotivated" on his part. He then returned, worked his way back up the ladder and is now experiencing the giddy highs of being WWE Champion. He is now set to defend his title for the first time against Kevin Owens in New Delhi. Mahal says that being WWE Champion is only the start and he wants to become the "greatest WWE Champion of all time." He also says that he wants to show that India has a lot of talent and it is high time that the country start making a splash on the global stage.
