New Delhi, Jan 14 (ANI): Wreath laying ceremony of 1971 Bangladesh liberation war hero Lieutenant General (retd) Jack Farj Rafael Jacob was observed on Thursday. Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jacob, 92, passed away on Wednesday morning, following a 13-days illness. He played a key role in India’s victory in the India-Pakistan war of 1971. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Lal Krishna Advani paid his tribute to former Lt. Gen. Jacob. Amongst other dignitaries who paid tributes to the 1971 war hero were current Chief of the Army Staff General Dalbir Singh, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, Minister of State (MoS) for External Affairs Vijay Kumar Singh and Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Syed Muazzem Ali. Besides his 36-year career in the army, Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Jack Jacob served as the Governor of Goa and Punjab.
