Japan looks towards ASEAN and India for business expansion
Thailand/Singapore, Dec 04 (ANI): Tokyo-based leading manufacturing company of consumer electronics, Casio Computer established subsidiary in Thailand - the largest market in ASEAN. Casio has strengthened relationship with Thailand with the introduction of Casio Marketing Thailand. Casio Marketing Thailand was established in July last year, as the fourth subsidiary of Casio in the ASEAN region. The company first established ASEAN regional headquarter in Singapore in 2001 and expanded its sales offices to Indonesia in 2011 and Malaysia in 2014. Casio has been promoting its products and brands through its distributor networks in Thailand since the 1970s. Casio brand are most famous for its best selling G-SHOCK, with total sales of over 80 million units since its first sales in 1983. Casio introduced the new model of G-SHOCK MTG series, which added to Casio’s “Global Time Sync” collection, featuring world’s first “GPS Hybrid Wave Ceptor Technology” which utilizes radio wave time calibration and GPS signals for instant and precise timekeeping across the changing time zones. Casio is also a market pioneer for the next generation projector.

Pakistan, Feb 29 (ANI): Mumtaz Qadri, the security guard who killed Punjab Governor Salmaan Taseer, has been hanged to death in Adiala Jail in Pakistan’s Rawalpindi city. Qadri had earlier filed a mercy plea before President Mamnoon Hussain after the Supreme Court maintained his conviction in October last year.
Nepal, Feb 28 (ANI): Five-month long Madeshi agitation in the Southern Terai region in Nepal did not yield any positive results as they were unable to bring the Nepal government to the negotiating table to address their concerns in the newly adopted constitution. In a bid to decide their future course of action, leaders of the Sanyukth Loktantrik Madheshi Morcha recently held a meeting. The party leaders said that more than 25 demands of Madheshis, mentioned in the charter, were turned down by the Nepal government. The people in southern Terai region of Nepal protested for five months against the Nepal’s newly adopted constitution that was promulgated in September last year. The Madheshis felt they had been denied their basic rights. The Madheshis demands include redrawing of the boundaries of the provinces in Terai region, fixing of electoral constituencies on the basis of population and proportional representation.
Lahore, Feb 26 (ANI): The Samjhota Express service, which was suspended due to security concerns following protests in Haryana, resumed its operation. India had suspended the services of Samjhota Express, which runs between Pakistan and India twice a week, on February 22, following widespread protests by the Jat community. Taking about the delay, one of the passengers Sughran Bibi said she had brought her mother-in-law to meet her relatives in Karachi, adding the disturbance in the train service had made them very uncomfortable as they were unprepared for the cold. While another passenger Hamza said their tickets were confirmed, but at midnight they got news that the train service had been suspended due to which he spent five days in travelling.
Waziristan, Feb 25 (ANI): Pakistan Army chief General Raheel Sharif ordered the commencement of the last phase of an ongoing military operation in Waziristan. The operation is aimed at clearing the remnants of terrorists from their hideouts in deeply forested ravines in order to sever their links with their abettors anywhere across the country. Sharif gave these directions during his visit to the Shawal area of North Waziristan to review the progress of the operation.
Nepal, Feb 24 (ANI): Madeshis in Nepal's Terai region are unable to procure cooking gas even when India's supply side resumed after prolonged agitation by the ethnic minority community which lasted for nearly six months. Although several trucks loaded with LPG (Liquefied Petroleum gas) cylinders entered through Birjung border, Madeshis claim that they do not get cooking gas for consumption. The uneven distribution of cooking gas has made life difficult for the Madeshis. The supply system was badly hit due to border blockade by the Madeshis in southern Terai region, resulting in a shortage of essential commodities, including petrol and cooking gas. The Madeshis have demanded that the Nepal government must prioritize the availability of cooking gas for them at the earliest.

Karachi, Feb 21 (ANI): Pakistan's marine forces have arrested 88 Indian fishermen and took sixteen boats into custody for allegedly violating the country's territorial waters in the Arabian Sea. A police official said the fishermen, who were arrested on Friday night, have been handed over to Docks Police Station in Karachi for necessary legal action. The arrested fishermen were charged under the Foreign Act and Fisheries Act. The fishermen, who belong to Gujarat, will be produced them before a magistrate on Sunday. India and Pakistan share an extensive oceanic border with each other which is poorly defined, resulting in fishermen on both sides inadvertently crossing over to the other side while netting their catch.

Sweden, Feb 18 (ANI): An explosion severely damaged part of a building that housed a Turkish cultural association in a Stockholm suburb late on Wednesday. A police spokesman said that no injury has been reported yet. He added that no one has been arrested. The police officials further informed that all the windows of the centre were blown out and technicians were on site to investigate the cause. The centre was located in the basement of a building in Fittja, in southwest Stockholm. According to local media reports, witnesses had seen a person throw an object at the building. Media reports also said there was increased security around other Turkish association premises as well as mosques in the Swedish capital. Earlier on Wednesday, 28 people were killed and dozens wounded in Turkey's capital Ankar awhen a car laden with explosives detonated next to military buses near the armed forces' headquarters, parliament and other government buildings.
Ankara, Feb 18 (ANI): A car bomb blast killed at least 28 people in the Turkish capital of Ankara on Wednesday night. Turkey's Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus said the explosion, which targeted an army convoy, injured at least 61 people.Noury, a local resident was only 300 meters away from the explosion site when the bomb went off, having driven past just 20 seconds earlier. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan condemned the attack, vowing to take military action against the perpetrators and their supporters. The Turkish army has been shelling Kurdish forces in Syria for days. Turkey sees those forces as an offshoot of its arch foe the Kurdistan Workers' Party.

The Madeshis have been demanding redrawing of boundaries of new provinces, fixing of electoral constituencies on the basis of population and proportional representation in the newly adopted constitution. Political instability in Nepal led to huge economic losses to the country as all the border trade points were blocked by the protesters choking supply of essential commodities.

Brisbane, Feb 08 (ANI): Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power, Coal, New and Renewable Energy Piyush Goyal on Monday said that the Government of India is willing to consider long term fixed price contracts with Australia for the supply of gas which will enable power producer to enter into a power supply contract at an affordable price. Goyal is leading a delegation for the 3rd India-Australia Energy Security dialogue in Australia.While addressing a roundtable in Brisbane earlier today on the business opportunities for LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) and Coal Bed Methane, Goyal stated that additionally, opportunities to control the entire value chain right from gas production, liquefaction, shipping, re-gasification and power generation can be evaluated at the current historic low prices of many of these activities. He also stressed that since coal based power is available in India at less than 5 cents per unit, the LNG providers should consider supplying gas to India at a price that is comparable.
San Diego, Jan 27 (ANI): A report of an active shooter and shots fired at the U.S. Naval Medical Center in San Diego triggered a heavy law enforcement response on Tuesday but was apparently unfounded, Navy officials said. Officials said there was no sign of a shooting and no known deaths or injuries at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego.People were evacuated from several building late in the morning as a team searched for an active shooter and possible casualties. Workers from the building were seen coming out in a single-file line with their hands raised in the air, as heavily armed police maintained a perimeter around the site.
