Sudha Singh, 30: Sudha Singh, who hails from Rae Barreilly district of Uttar Pradesh, will be looking to spot gold at the Rio 2016 Olympics. She might have shifted her focus from the 3000 metres steeplechase event to the marathon category, but he performances speak volumes of her ability to win big in Rio. She holds a lot of potential and will join OP Jaisha in the marathon event. Her impressive stint at the 2015 IAAF Asian Championships in Beijing confirmed her ability to compete in the longest running event at the Olympics. Most of her personal records were set in the steeplechase events. Sudha clocked her personal best with a timing of 9:35:64 seconds in the 3000m steeplechase event at the Inchaon Asian Games back in 2014. She also finished fourth in the competition. Sudha broke the National record of Santhi Soundarajan in the 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou, but soon repeated her performance to better her own national record with a timing of 9:47.70 seconds at the “VIII meeting Iberoamericano de Atletismo Championship” in June 2012. She has also won the prestigious Arjuna Award, bestowed upon her by the Indian Government.
