The first day of Rio Olympics many things which included the first gold medal winners, a world record broken, a country winning it’s first gold, a country ending a long gold medal drought and many such things.
USA’s Virgina won the first gold medal of the Rio Games in the 10m Air Rifle event while Britain’s Peaty broke the 100. breaststroke world record. Vietnam got its first gold after it won the men’s 10m air pistol final. Also, Australia won a gold medal in swimming, after a long long time.
Katinka Hosszu broke the world record in the 400m individual medley by winning the gold medal in 4 minutes 26:36 seconds.

The 31st Olympiad was thrown open by interim Brazil president Michel Temer in Rio de Janeiro on Saturday.
Indian contingent were led by Abhinav Bindra wearing a blue suit and sarees for the women. The team entered at approximately 6.15 AM IST.
