Test captain Virat Kohli sent out a message in an attempt to raise awareness on the pollution crisis that the national capital is facing at the moment. Kohli put out a video on his twitter account in which he said, “Schools are getting close, sporting events are getting cancelled and it’s a situation that is only getting worse by the day.”

Kohli put out a series of tweets on the topic and finally posted the video. “If we don’t act, there is going to be massive problems in the future,” he further said, “Kids are going to suffer with diseases. So look after your families, look after your children whose future really depends on how we act in the current situation and make it better for them. It is my humble request to act in a responsible manner, be aware, and please don’t do things that are harming the environment even more. Lets get together, Delhiites, and start making a difference, because it’s very very important.”

Virat Kohli’s hometown Delhi has recently faced a huge problem with smog with the dip in tempratures. The Delhi government had asked schools to remain closed till the situation improves. On the sporting front, Ranji matches between Bengal and Gujarat and Haryana and Tripura were cancelled. The two matches were to be held in the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium and Karnail Singh Stadium respectively in the city.

The matches were cancelled due to heavy smog conditions prevailing throughout the city and have been moved away from the national capital.

Kohli is set to lead India in the first of a five match Test series against England starting on Wednesday. The first Test is to be held at the SCA stadium in Rajkot.
