After crop losses, erratic rainfall and years of failing to secure electricity for their borewell, a Yavatmal farming family lost three members to suicide: sons Nikhil in 2021 and Tapaveen in 2024, then father Dnyaneshwar this year. Their deaths came amid a wider Maharashtra drought; Yavatmal recorded 128 farmer suicides in the first half of the year.
