Somnath: When a British official said he brought back temple’s gates from Afghanistan
Prime Minister Modi visited Gujarat to honour the 75th anniversary of the restored Somnath temple, a sacred place for Hindus. In 1842, the British falsely claimed to have returned wooden gates from Somnath. In 1951, Pakistan spread false rumors about the gates.
