Bengal SIR phase 2: 5 lakh voters don’t turn up for hearings, face deletion
Around 5 lakh voters in West Bengal are at risk of being removed from the electoral roll during the second phase of the SIR exercise due to non-response to hearing notices. The state's Chief Electoral Officer has instructed officials to extend the deadline to February 14 and continue with hearings. Many districts have requested an extension, with 58 lakh voters already deleted in the first phase.
