The IPL 2014 runners up Kings XI Punjab will start their campaign against Rajasthan Royals on March 24 and will play their first home game against Mumbai Indians on March 30. Despite getting off to a flying start in the
previous edition the team slogged in the second phase of the tournament. Punjab lost seven out of their last eight games to cut a sorry figure and finish second-bottom. However, this time the franchise spent a whopping amount of money during the auction and Varun Chakaravarthy and Prabhsimran Singh were two of their biggest signings. Architect-turned cricketer Chakravarthy, who is a mystery spinner from Tamil Nadu, was roped in for a whopping 8.4 crore. He was the highest wicket-taker (22) in the group stages of Vijay Hazare trophy in October.
