NorthEast United (NEUFC) claim to represent the eight states in Assam, Nagaland, Manipur, Meghalaya, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura and Mizoram but are a franchised based in Guwahati, Assam. The club is owned by Bollywood actor John Abraham and he is a frequent visitor to the club’s games - home and away. The club plays its home games at the India Gandhi Athletics Stadium in Guwahati and are nicknamed The Highlanders. The club has finished eighth, fifth and again fifth in the three seasons so far. NEUFC will be managed by João de Deus going into the 2017-18 season which they start off against new entrants Jamshedpur FC at home on November 18.
