Chennaiyin FC are one of the two champions of the Indian Super League (ISL) after they won the title in 2015. The club was born in October 2014 for the inaugural season of the ISL. The franchise is owned by Vita Dani, actor Abhishek Bachchan and cricketer Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The ‘yin’ in the name is Tamil’s suffix of apostrophe s in English and basically implies Chennai’s football club. The home games are played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium with the fans nicknamed as Supermachans. For the 2017 season, the club will be managed by John Gregory. Chennaiyin FC would be hoping for a better finish than the seventh out of eight last season.
