Welcome back for MI's reply with the bat. Rohit Sharma descends the famous Wankhede stairs to a roaring reception as MI's Impact Player for the chase. The in-form Ryan Rickelton accompanies him to the crease. LSG also use their Impact Sub option as Mitchell Marsh is subbed out, making way for the left-arm spinner, Manimaran Siddharth. And for Mumbai, it's a Sharma swap as Rohit replaces Raghu. As usual, it will be Mohammad Shami to take the new ball for the Super Giants. A slip in place and Rickelton to face. Here we go!

... THE RUN CHASE ...

A huge task ahead - There is no doubt that Wankhede has been a batter's safe haven, with teams batting first failing to cross the 200-run mark only once at this venue. But even targets in the 230-250 territory haven't been safe in this season here. The hosts did manage to chase down a similar target against KKR at home, and would need a similar kind of performance here as well in this must-win game. But given MI's batting inconsistencies this year, and LSG's pace attack being economical upfront, it sets up to be a delicious battle in the run chase. Stick around.

Good comeback in the second half - However, it was Corbin Bosch who proved to be the point of difference, fishing out both Marsh and Pooran in the same over to reduce LSG from 123/1 to 125/3. LSG needed their skipper Pant to step up and take responsibility but that did not happen, and a further wicket of debutant Akshat left them reeling at 160/5. Despite that slide, LSG's run rate stayed above 12 and Aiden Markram and Himmat Singh allied together to consolidate with an unbeaten 68-run partnership, though they would admit they could not land the killer blows in the final overs.

Marsh, Pooran put MI to the sword - LSG's new opening pair of Inglis and Marsh was broken up inside the Powerplay by Ghazanfar, but Marsh refused to let the side slip into a defensive shell. He found an aggressive ally in Nicholas Pooran and the two made full use of anything in the slot, plundering 100 in the seventh over. The assault completely knocked MI's bowlers off their lengths, with the stumps rarely threatened as the bowlers found themselves chasing the batters around the park. Pooran rediscovered his touch with a blazing half century, and was looking for a big one.

15-20 runs short? That's what LSG might be thinking, given the way they started off in the first half, but they still managed to post their highest total this season. Mumbai Indians have managed to pull things back really nicely in the last 3 overs, conceding just 22 runs. And you never know, on a batting paradise like this, with dew expected to come later on, that might prove to be the difference. However, for MI, their bowling attack has come under the scanner once again, with Bumrah going wicketless and expensive again. He could have got one or maybe two wickets, but overstepping cost him dearly.

Strategic Break! Mumbai Indians have pulled things back massively in the last 5 overs, picking up 4 wickets for just 41 runs. Corbin Bosch and the spinners have been the main architects of this comeback, and they know that if they can pick up a couple of more wickets quickly, they can even restrict the visitors to under 200, which was looking like a distant dream when Pooran and Marsh were batting. Lucknow Super Giants need a partnership here, and Aiden Markram holds the key for them. Corbin slams the deck really hard, on a good length, around the off and middle stumps. Mitchell Marsh is a bit rushed on the pull shot and mistimes it off the inner half. Hits it flat and straight into the hands of Naman Dhir stationed at deep mid-wicket. Lucknow Super Giants are 125/3 in 8.5 overs.

Corbin Bosch to Rishabh Pant, Nearly a wicket for Bosch! He spears in a good length ball, attacking the middle stump and gets it to skid a bit as well. Pant has no clue and is pinned in the crease. He is beaten by the pace as well as his bat comes down very late and the ball seems to have grazed the inside edge on its way to the keeper. Rickelton dives to his right and gathers the dipping ball in his gloves. The on-field umpires want to have a look at the legality of the catch and send it upstairs for a review. First, UltraEdge is being checked and it comes up with a clear spike when the ball is next to the inside edge. Now, onto the catch. A couple of angles come up and the TV umpire deems that the ball is grounded before entering Ryan's glove. Maybe the inside edge took a bit of pace off the ball. Not Out loads on the giant screen.

Has that carried? The sound was definitely woody, indicating an inside edge, but has the ball carried through to Ryan Rickelton behind the stumps? The third umpire is having a look. It seems there is an inside edge and UltraEdge confirms it. Oh, it is a close one but the ball seems to have just hit the turf before entering the gloves. Such decisions are always tricky for the third umpire and he wants to check it from a few more angles. The third umpire concludes that the fingers are pointing downwards and the ball is grounded. STRATEGIC BREAK​​​​​​! MI definitely need a breather here, as barring Inglis' wicket, nothing has gone their way. Even the best like Bumrah have been taken to the cleaners. Surely, a typical Wankhede pitch with a lot of runs written over it. The first 3 overs went for 30 runs, but the next half of the Powerplay went for 60 with Pooran being the real aggressor. Seems like he has discovered his touch and would want to continue doing this. And in all fairness, it hasn't been great bowling execution from the MI bowlers. They have been completely put off their lines and lengths and desperately need a breakthrough to slow down things. As the field spreads, Corbin Bosch is called into the attack now, replacing Will Jacks.

The stand-in captain for Mumbai Indians - Suryakumar Yadav says that the wicket looks good and it's also a bit humid. In the last couple of games, it has become better to bat on in the second innings, so that's there as well. Adds that Hardik Pandya is unwell so he is filling in his shoes. SKY informs that they have a few changes. Corbin Bosch comes in place of Trent Boult and their very own Rohit Sharma is back, which sent the crowd into frenzy. Surya mentions that they can't hide behind the fact that MI are not known to be in such positions, but it's a game, and they have a lot of pride to play for and have fun out there. He ends by saying that not having any margin for error doesn't really make them dangerous but all they can do is put their best foot forward, try to win as many games as possible and put up a show for the crowd.

Let's now hear from LSG's Nicholas Pooran - Nicholas Pooran says he is hopeful that he will perform better in this game. Admits that it has been a very tough tournament for him and his team as well. Says it is a tough place to be for any sportsperson, but is confident about his preparations and skills. On his training and whether anything has changed in his approach, Pooran shares that nothing has changed but is quick to accept that it has been one of those seasons where nothing has gone his way. He adds that he thinks and reflects a lot about his game and takes accountability for his performances. On whether he relies on video analysis or prefers going by feel and speaking to his coaches, Pooran says he is a bit of both. He reveals he watches a lot of videos to understand what he is doing right or wrong and says he just tries to get better each day. He again reiterates that it has been a tough chapter in his career but stresses on continuing to get better and evolving as a cricketer and, more importantly, as a human being. Pooran calls Wankhede a wonderful place to bat and adds that there are plenty of runs on offer when you apply yourself well. But he says that for him, it is not about the venue he is playing at but more about focusing on the situation and staying in the moment for as long as possible and playing the game the right way.

A quick chat with MI's Will Jacks - Will Jacks says that they have to be honest and admit that they have been well below expectations. Adds that in the final five games they have to show a bit of pride and perform at a level they know they can do and aspire to be. Mentions that the transition from batting at 6-7 in the World Cup back to opening here has been fine. Says that the experience of batting down the order means that he can bat anywhere the team wants, and we might see him bat at a different position in this game. Shares that bowling against the SRH in the Powerplay was tough, sometimes the batters play some good shots and the surfaces have been excellent for batting. The way this IPL is going, if you go for 10-12 in an over, you have done a good job. Ends by saying that sometimes when you are going through a tough phase, you tend to forget to enjoy the game, but you play this sport to have fun, so they want to do that and maybe that leads to some positive results.

PITCH REPORT - Former Indian wicket-keeper, Deep Dasgupta, is pitchside. He starts by talking about the dimensions and says that there is a bit of a bias on one side of the square, as the square boundaries are 61 meters and 67 meters on either side, and the straight hit is 75 meters. Former Aussie opener, Aaron Finch, joins him and says that there's not just a bit of grass on the deck, but live green grass, which will allow the pacers to get some help early on. Finch also reckons that there is some moisture in the deck and the finger spinners will have a role to play. However, they both end by mentioning that overall, it will be a great wicket to bat on.

Go big or go home - Technically, the match is a loser-goes-home scenario for all practical purposes regarding the playoffs. The pitch at Wankhede typically rewards fearless stroke-making, which might be the tonic both struggling batting units need to break the rut.
