HIGHLIGHTS India vs West Indies, West Indies in India 3 ODI Series 2026, 3rd ODI- Result, Scorecard

Welcome back for West Indies' response with the bat. The umpires and players punctually make their way to the middle. The Indians have taken their respective fielding spots. John Campbell and Shai Hope are the two openers for the tourists, walking to the crease. Mohammed Siraj is all set to steam in with the new ball. Campbell is on strike. Off we go again...

... The Run Chase ...

Tough task ahead - Batting in the first powerplay looked difficult, but the pitch certainly got better and more hospitable to bat as the innings progressed. Under the lights, conditions might come on even better for the batters too, which makes a steady start absolutely non-negotiable for the tourists. They have found proactive starts through Campbell this series, and it is now about whether that platform can be built upon to chase down a target of this size. India, on the other hand, will simply look to break through that first wall of partnerships, and their bowlers, especially the seamers, will also look to tidy up their own numbers, having been expensive through this series. Back in a bit with the start of the chase.

Backed up with a KLassic knock - However, West Indies hit back with a mini burst, removing both set batters in quick succession. Seales struck again on his return, as India slid from 141 for 2 to 160 for 4. Those twin blows gave the Indian middle order exactly the kind of test they have been craving all series. KL Rahul and Naman Dhir responded with a fluent 65-run stand, while Anshul Kamboj muscled a couple into the stands to show off his batting credentials too, on his ODI debut. But the main act was Rahul, who eventually motored his way to a well-deserved century, playing all around the dial before absolutely cutting loose towards the end to help India breach 350.

Kept things tight first up - Unlike the first two games, played on flat surfaces that produced a flood of runs and successful chases, this pitch told a very different story. The ball jumped and nipped off the deck, right up the bowlers' alley. Seales and Forde set the tone with discipline up front, the former accounting for both Gill and Kohli to leave India reeling at 4 for 2. West Indies owned the first powerplay overall, keeping India pinned to just 28 for 2. Rohit survived a couple of close shaves, and Gaikwad rode his luck too, dropped four times. Still, the two settled the nerves, found their rhythm, and stitched together a stable 137-run stand, with both Rohit and Gaikwad notching up well-paced half-centuries.

Men in Blue boss it up once again - 65 runs in the last 5 overs have powered India to a mammoth score. And they have KL Rahul to thank for it - dare we say, one of the finest knocks of his ODI career, as he finishes with his highest score in this format. West Indies will be hugely disappointed with the way they finished things off. They simply couldn't devise the right plans, let alone execute them, to keep a lid on the run flow. It was a tough day out for someone like Alzarri Joseph, who leaked plenty of runs, though a couple of crucial chances also went down off his bowling. Jayden Seales, on the other hand, was the pick of the bowlers, even if he too went for a few too many through the back end.

Keemo Paul to KL Rahul, Another brace and that takes India past 350 on the final ball of the innings. 22 runs off the final over as the Men in Blue finish on 351/7. Slips it in full, keeping it away from the batter's arc. Rahul gets low and drags it wide of deep mid-wicket. They take the first run hard and come charging back for the second before the throw arrives.

Keemo Paul to KL Rahul, Two runs saved! Keemo stays full and wide on off. KL anticipates the line and walks across. He brings out the reverse and spoons it over the man at short third. The fielder at deep backward point is fine, and he sprints to his left, sticking out the left boot to prevent the boundary.

Keemo Paul to KL Rahul, FOUR! The boundaries keep coming. Paul tries to keep it around the tramline, on a length. Rahul collapses his back knee and throws his hands at the ball. It flies behind off a thickish outside edge over the head of the short third fielder for a four. 18 runs off the over with two balls to go.

Keemo Paul to KL Rahul, SIX! And again! Another full toss but this is higher, around the waist. An awkward height to pick it up but Rahul presses back and swivels to dispatch it over mid-wicket for another six. The 50-run stand comes up in just 25 balls.

Keemo Paul to KL Rahul, SIX! Punished! Paul gets the yorker wrong as it is a low full toss, on off and middle. KL needs no second invitation as he clobbers it over wide long on for a flat six. Rahul moves to 115, and this is now his highest ODI score, going past his previous best of an unbeaten 112 against New Zealand in Rajkot earlier this year.

Keemo Paul to KL Rahul, Wide! Paul tries the wide yorker but he sprays it beyond the tramline. Rahul flashes but can only connect with thin air.

Keemo Paul to Gurnoor Brar, From around the wicket, on a good length, on middle. Brar has a swipe across the line. Ekes out an inside edge onto the pads. The batters cross over for a single as the ball drops on the off side.

Keemo Paul (8-0-49-0) will bowl the final over of the first innings.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, Spears in a yorker, on middle. KL hurriedly gets his bat down and jams it out on the deck. Rahul can't retain the strike. 17 runs off the 49th over.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, SIX! Launched down the ground. Yorker gone wrong for Seales and he is made to pay for it. It tails back in the slot for Rahul, who puts his head down and swings through the line, tonking it towards the sight screen for another maximum.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, Wide! Down leg, Rahul fails to help it away.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, SIX! That goes all the way, and it takes KL Rahul to his 9th ODI HUNDRED. India's man for all seasons comes through when called upon. A little too straight, on a back of a length with fine leg up inside the circle. Rahul leans inside the line and gets low to get under the ball and shovels it behind square leg for half a dozen. A superb innings built on composure, control and class, capped off with a century. Another reminder of just how valuable a player Rahul is for India.

Jayden Seales to Gurnoor Brar, Nasty ball. From around the wicket, a sharp bumper at the right shoulder. Brar gets his hands high and fends it awkwardly. The ball catches the shoulder of the blade and goes behind square leg for a single.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, On a length, on middle. Rahul knocks it to long on and takes a single.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, Leg-cutter by Seales, on a back of a length, on off. Rahul makes room for himself and tries to go inside out over cover but he loses his shape. One hand comes off the bat handle as he slices it over cover for a couple of runs. The throw from the deep is wayward, smack bang in the middle of the pitch and it rolls down to deep square leg but KL is happy with two.

Jayden Seales will bowl the penultimate over. 9-0-45-3 are his bowling figures so far. KL Rahul is just one hit away from a well-deserved century.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, Back to nailing the yorker is Joseph, on leg. KL digs it out on the leg side and retains the strike with a single. Rahul shares a quick fist bump with Joseph after reaching the other end.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, SIX! Up, up and away! Joseph misses his mark as he goes searching for the yorker. It is right in the slot, on midde. Rahul clears the front leg and gets under the ball, clubbing it way over deep mid-wicket for a biggie. KL moves to 93.

Alzarri Joseph to Gurnoor Brar, On a hard length, on off. Brar hops to ride the bounce and drops it beside the strip on the off side. The batters sneak in a quick single, which puts KL back on strike.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, Very full, not allowing the batter to get under the ball. Rahul hangs deep in the crease and shanks it off the inner half to long on. Just a single.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, Right in the blockhole, on middle. There is nothing KL can do about it as he jams it out.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, Untidy in the field. Joseph slips in a full ball, on middle and leg. Rahul puts his head down and swings at the ball. Mishits it off the inner half towards wide long on. Matthew Forde sprints to his right but overruns the ball. He does manage to stop the ball from going past him by sticking out his left hand but cannot prevent the second run from being taken. Joseph is not happy one bit.

A slight halt in play as reserve player Dhruv Jurel carries out towels and water for both batters. And concerns for West Indies grow further as they have been penalised for a slow over rate. Meaning an extra fielder will need to be stationed inside the inner ring for the rest of the innings. Alzarri Joseph will bowl himself out this over.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, Seales attempts the yorker but it comes out as a low full toss, tailing in at the pads. Rahul has a swing at it but he does so early. Toe-ends it down to long leg for just a single. A shake of the head by KL as he knows that he has missed out on a boundary opportunity.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, At 136.1 kph, a bumper, following the batter as he backs away. The upper cut was on with third man inside the circle but Rahul can't connect.

Jayden Seales to Gurnoor Brar, Around the pads, on a back of a length. Brar glances it wide of short fine leg for a single. The 300 comes up for India.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, Into the deck, on middle. KL pulls it in front of square on the leg side for a single.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, FOUR! John Campbell's effort goes in vain. Seales angles in a length ball, on middle. Rahul gives himself a bit of room and lofts it back over the bowler's head with a straight bat. Campbell sprints to his left and dives. He pushes the ball away with his left hand but it catches his right hand and trickles into the boundary cushions.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, Tailing back in at the pads, on a length. Rahul looks to play the pick-up shot but misses and wears it on the pads.

Last 4 overs to go. India are in touching distance of 300. The floodlights are now in full effect at New Chandigarh.

Alzarri Joseph to Gurnoor Brar, Down leg, on a good length. Brar misses out on the tickle. Wide not given as the ball brushed the pads on its way to the keeper.

Alzarri Joseph to Gurnoor Brar, FOUR! A shot that any top order batter will be proud of. Joseph switches to around the wicket and lands it on a length, on off and middle. Brar stays rooted to the crease but extends his hands and just punches it away neatly. He threads the gap between cover and mid off and the ball wins the race against the mid off fielder.

Well, something to cheer for Alzarri Joseph on what has been another tough day for him, with a couple of chances going down off his bowling. Gurnoor Brar is in at number 9. Strikingly, the first left-hander on show today.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, OUT! ANSHUL KAMBOJ IS RUN OUT! Good work by Alzarri Joseph. Another well-executed yorker, on middle and leg. Rahul gets the front leg out of the way and hurriedly gets his bat down. As the ball drops at his feet, the batters set off for the single, but there is a bit of hesitation and that leads to Kamboj's downfall. Joseph is quick to get to the ball on his follow-through and breaks the stumps. The third umpire is called into action. The replays find Anshul to be just short and that is the 7th wicket down for India at the score of 290.

Has Alzarri managed to effect the run out at the batting end? He rushes forward, scoops the ball up from right beside the stumps and breaks them in a flash, and the side-on replay confirms Kamboj was just short of his crease.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, Bowled by going wide on the crease, another yorker at the toes. Rahul fails to get it away and gets hit on the pads.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, Nails the yorker, on middle. KL digs it out.

Alzarri Joseph to KL Rahul, FOUR! Another chance goes down, a tough one, though! Sprayed on the pads, full in length. Rahul helps it away with the angle. It flies behind to John Campbell at short fine leg, who is late to react. He moves to his right and stretches both hands to his right but the ball clips his fingertips and races behind towards the fence.

Alzarri Joseph (8-1-51-0) has been called back into the attack.

Jayden Seales to KL Rahul, High up in the air... but lands safely! Seales bangs it short into the pitch, outside off, KL Rahul uses the pace to ramp it over short third. Gets more height than distance as he fails to middle it. But luckily for him, the ball lands and plugs in the deep third region. Roston Chase, the sub fielder, hunts it down and keeps it to two runs.

Gudakesh Motie to Anshul Kamboj, SIX! WHAT A SHOT! Fractionally short, on middle. Kamboj clears the front leg away to make room and swings it fluently into the stands behind deep mid-wicket for a six. 15 runs off the over. 26 runs from the last 2 overs for the Men in Blue.

Gudakesh Motie to KL Rahul, DROPPED! Tough chance for Motie. Shortish delivery, around middle, and Rahul backs away to hammer it back over the bowler. A slight halt as the umpires are not happy with the ball's shape. Keemo Paul is down on his haunches as well, evidently struggling with the heat. The umpires call DRINKS on the field as they try to sort the issue with the ball during this break. West Indies have made Indian batters work really hard for every run, getting rid of Gill and Kohli early doors. Both Rohit and Gaikwad have also survived a fair share of chances, but they have managed to somewhat steady the ship through a 50-run partnership which is developing cautiously.  They will look to park themselves at the crease and form a huge partnership, and this is a great opportunity for the Indian middle order to step up in need on a pitch that is not as flat as the previous two games. The tourists, meanwhile, will be aiming to put an end to this budding stand as quickly as possible to get into an untested Indian middle order. Looks like the ball has been changed mid-break and we are good to resume.

It flies behind off the face of the blade. Shai Hope flings himself to his left but the ball does not stick in his grasp as he goes for it with the left glove and it drops to the ground.

A good first Powerplay for West Indies. Shai Hope can now have a maximum of 4 fielders outside the 30-yard circle in Powerplay 2, but he will not want to spread the field just yet and will not allow this pair to pick up easy singles.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Hones in and around off, on a fuller length. Rohit leaves it alone. Halfway through the first Powerplay and India are crawling at 9/2.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Outside off and short, Sharma shoulders arms.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Massive appeal from Seales for LBW, but the umpire shakes his head. Shai Hope takes no time to review it and challenge the on-field decision. But maybe height could be a factor here. Good-length delivery, on off and middle, cutting back into the batter sharply with a bit of bounce. Rohit Sharma is cramped for room as he looks to block it off the back foot. The ball beats the inside edge and thuds onto Rohit's back pad, just above the knee roll. Ball Tracking shows that the ball is projected to go over the middle stump. So the on-field decision is upheld, and West Indies burn a review.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Closer to the off stump, slightly full in length, Rohit makes a tight leave as the ball whistles past the off stump.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, FOUR! Pressure releasing shot from Rohit and India have their first boundary! Short and outside off, Rohit Sharma latches onto it and cuts it over backward point for a boundary.

Jayden Seales to Ruturaj Gaikwad, Fuller and outside off, Ruturaj gets a big stride forward and defends it out.

West Indies could not have asked for a better start. Ruturaj Gaikwad makes his way out to the middle. A slip and a gully for the new batter.

Jayden Seales to Virat Kohli, OUT! KNOCKED HIM OVER! Double strike for Seales, and Kohli is shell-shocked, staring at the pitch. A touch fuller this time, around the off stump line. It lands and nips back in. Virat Kohli walks a couple of steps forward to play the flick shot but plays the wrong line, and the ball sneaks through the gap between bat and pad to flatten the middle stump. Seales is absolutely delighted, and so are the tourists, as they have got two massive wickets now. A rare golden duck for Kohli, and India are 4/2.

Jayden Seales to Virat Kohli, Wide! Length delivery wide outside off, but beyond the tramline. Kohli leaves it alone.

West Indies strike early. Virat Kohli is in at number 3.

Jayden Seales to Shubman Gill, OUT! STRANGLED DOWN THE LEG SIDE! Seales lands a huge blow and West Indies have their first wicket already. He lands it on a good length, angling it down the leg stump line. Shubman Gill tries to tickle it off the back foot but the ball kicks up and grazes the glove before travelling behind to the keeper. Shai Hope dives low to his left and snaffles a fine catch inches above the ground with his left hand. There's an appeal for caught behind and up goes the finger. Gill walks off without reviewing. A century in Trivandrum, a double century in Guwahati, but this time, Gill departs early. India are 3/1 in 2.3 overs.

Jayden Seales to Shubman Gill, Beaten! Gill dances down the track and tries to whack the length delivery over the off side, but the ball nips away a shade and zips past the outside edge.

Jayden Seales to Shubman Gill, At 135.5 kph, this is bashed hard on a length, outside off. Gill stands tall and knocks it to cover.

Matthew Forde to Rohit Sharma, Goes fuller now, outside off, Rohit drives it firmly away but cannot get it past the fielder at backward point. Excellent start by Forde as well. Just a single off his first over.

Matthew Forde to Rohit Sharma, At a gentle pace, 123 kph, on a good length, outside off. This is punched off the back foot to the cover fielder.

Matthew Forde to Rohit Sharma, Oh, a bit of an inswing, on a length, Rohit plays off the back foot and steers it to square leg.

Matthew Forde to Shubman Gill, Good-length delivery, outside off, Gill hangs back and guides it to deep third to open his account with a single.

Matthew Forde to Shubman Gill, Attacks the stumps now, on a fractionally fuller length. Shubman gets a tad across and stabs it down to mid on.

Matthew Forde to Shubman Gill, Fairly outside off, on a length, nipping in a bit off the pitch at 121.3 kph. Gill leaves.

Back in the side for this game, Matthew Forde will take the other new ball.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Disciplined start by Seales. Hits the length hard, on top of off, Rohit Sharma watchfully knocks it down the pitch.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Back of a length, at 135.5 kph, on the stumps, Rohit hangs back and tucks it to mid-wicket.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, India and Rohit are off the mark! Fuller and angling at the pads, Rohit Sharma gently flicks it between mid-wicket and mid on for a couple of runs.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Short once again, outside the off stump, Rohit is happy to leave it alone.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Outside off, on a short of a length, Rohit lets it through.

Jayden Seales to Rohit Sharma, Starts with a short delivery, outside off, Rohit Sharma rises with the bounce and tries to tap it to the off side, but ends up chopping it to the point region. He looks to steal a run, but Gill is quick to send him back.

The bell has been rung, and we are all set to get going. In what is the first men's ODI here in New Chandigarh, the stadium is nowhere close to being full yet, but it is understandable given the heat, and we expect more to come in as the evening sets in. Shai Hope has gathered his men in a huddle for one final word before they take the field. They are followed by the two Indian openers, Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. Jayden Seales will kickstart proceedings with the new ball. Rohit to face the first ball. There is a slip in place. Away we go...

Mission accomplished - In case you have not caught the update yet, India have successfully defended their gold medal at the Asian Games, beating Pakistan by 19 runs. Pakistan threw everything at the chase through a brilliant Hasan Nawaz knock of 96 off just 51. But India's class and quality ultimately stood taller in the end. It caps off a golden Asian Games for India in every sense in cricket, with Harmanpreet Kaur's side already having defended their own title in the women's competition a couple of weeks back. India finish with gold, Pakistan take silver, and Sri Lanka round off the podium with bronze.

West Indies (Playing XI) - John Campbell, Jewel Andrew, Shai Hope (C/WK), Amir Jangoo, Sherfane Rutherford, Keemo Paul, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie, Alzarri Joseph, Vitel Lawes and Jayden Seales. IN - Jewel Andrew, Matthew Forde, Gudakesh Motie. OUT - Keacy Carty, Roston Chase, Shamar Joseph.

India (Playing XI) - Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill (C), Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (WK), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Naman Dhir, Anshul Kamboj, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Gurnoor Brar. IN - Anshul Kamboj (On ODI Debut), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Mohammed Siraj. OUT - Prasidh Krishna (Injured), Ravindra Jadeja, Auqib Nabi.

The captain of West Indies - Shai Hope says they would have bowled first had he won the toss, so he is happy with what they are doing. On where the batting can improve, he keeps the focus on consistency with the bat, pointing out that his side has actually batted really well through the series so far. The bigger area to fix, he adds, is with the ball, where the team needs to execute its plans far better. On the exposure for the young players in the squad, Hope rates it highly, pointing out that coming to India and taking on the best team in the world is exactly the kind of challenge that accelerates growth for his younger players. About the team changes, he jokingly says that they have three changes in the playing XI, but he won't be running his head around remembering all of them.

The Indian captain - Shubman Gill feels the first 3-4 overs could offer a bit for the bowlers, but once the surface settles, it should become a really good wicket to bat on. Gill is pleased with how the batting has gone so far, but admits there have been concerns with the bowling at times. He says the important thing is to take the learnings from those moments and keep getting better. Even saving 15-20 runs can make a big difference, he adds. Shubman also feels that given the inexperience, the more the bowling group plays together, the more they will understand each other's games, which should make a huge difference going forward.

TOSS - It's time for the coin to go up in New Chandigarh. Both captains - Shubman Gill and Shai Hope - are all in readiness. Tails is the call from Hope, but it comes down as Heads. India have elected to BAT first.

In conversation with Naman Dhir - When asked by Ian Bishop how his body is feeling after the second game, Naman says it was not an injury but simply a cramp brought on by the heat. He is feeling fine now and is ready to go. On playing at home, Naman says it is a special moment for him, having started his cricketing journey here. His family will also be in attendance, making the occasion even more special. On his journey, Naman says he was considering moving to Canada after COVID-19, having struggled to find a breakthrough after representing Punjab at the Under-16 level. His father, however, encouraged him to give cricket one more year. That decision paid off as he was picked for the Ranji Trophy, followed by the IPL, and his journey really took off from there. Having not got a chance with the bat in the first two games, Naman says he would love some time in the middle, especially in front of his home crowd. That said, he does not mind if the opportunity does not come as long as the team keeps winning.

Gold on its way - While one Indian side chases a clean sweep in New Chandigarh, another side, led by Shreyas Iyer, is locked in battle with Pakistan on foreign soil, fighting for Gold in the Asian Games final over in Japan. They are in a strong position after smashing 211 in the first innings. As per the latest reports, Pakistan need 52 runs in 18 balls. And while they have shown real fighting spirit, the equation looks just a shade too steep to pull off. While we wait for the toss and team updates from this game, feel free to switch tabs to follow the closing stages of that final in Nisshin. But don't forget to join us back in time as the coin flip is about five minutes away.

PITCH REPORT - Former India spinner Murali Kartik is pitchside and starts by informing us that a black-soil surface will be used for the game. The square boundaries are 68 metres, while it is 74 metres straight down the ground, with the dimensions fairly similar to those in Guwahati. Former West Indies batter Daren Ganga joins him and observes an even covering of grass across the surface. He expects good batting conditions, with consistent pace and bounce on offer, although the spinners could come into play as the ball gets older. For the pacers, Ganga feels hitting the 7-8 metre length consistently will be key to challenging the batters both in the first Powerplay and beyond. Ganga feels chasing is the way to go, but Kartik believes India may want to challenge themselves by batting first and then trying to defend a total.

All set for the debut - News coming from the center is that Anshul Kamboj is set to make his ODI debut. He was handed the debut cap a few minutes ago. And in a special touch, it came from none other than Virat Kohli. Called away midway through an India A red-ball game, Kamboj now finds himself in the mix, replacing the injured Prasidh Krishna.

Dominance like no other - India have now reeled off 14 straight ODI bilateral series wins against West Indies, home or away, a streak running all the way back to January 2007, when the greats like Rahul Dravid and Brian Lara were the captains of the respective sides. Nearly two decades of total dominance, and the Caribbean side still hasn't managed to crack it. Their last ODI win over India on Indian soil, in fact, goes back to 2019. For a side already searching for answers, these numbers only add to the mountain they must climb.

Not all doom and gloom - For all the disappointments West Indies have endured on this tour, there is a bigger picture worth noticing. Four centurions have come off their bats across the series, three of them in the previous game alone, and crucially, this batting unit hasn't looked like a one-man show built around Shai Hope. John Campbell has lit the fuse at the top with real intent, while Amir Jangoo has held the fort in the middle, pacing his innings beautifully. The bowling, though, has let them down badly, as even the experienced hands have been tonked for plenty. Still, for a side that has lost the series, the signs of genuine depth are hard to ignore. With the World Cup qualifiers now the immediate focus, West Indies have built a good crop of players to bank on going forward.

Building blocks for the next year - India's build-up to the 2027 World Cup has begun on the right track. Rohit and Kohli both rolled back the years with centuries of their own, while captain Shubman Gill went several notches further, turning his hundred into a daddy double century and emerging as the chief architect behind India's historic 406-run chase in Guwahati. The batting has been so relentless that the middle order hasn't even had a proper look in yet. This time around, expect India to shuffle the pack a touch. On the bowling front, only Kuldeep Yadav has looked genuinely threatening among the lot, while the pacers will need to find a sharper gear and tighten the screws massively.

Sweep or salvage? The three-match ODI series between India and West Indies has travelled far, from the southern coastline of Trivandrum to the gateway to the northeast in Guwahati, and now pulls into its final stop in the land of five rivers, Punjab. It's also a special occasion as Mullanpur is set to host its maiden ODI, becoming India's 52nd ODI venue. The Men in Blue have already sealed the series 2-0 and have their eyes set on a clean sweep, while the Men in Maroon will be desperate to salvage some pride and get across the line this time around. On that note, hello and welcome to our coverage of the third and final ODI from New Chandigarh.

... MATCH DAY ...

The series finale - From the banks of the Brahmaputra, the series has now rolled into Mullanpur for what is essentially a dead rubber. India have already wrapped up the series with that record chase in Guwahati, but with the World Cup to build towards for both sides, albeit via very different paths, there is no such thing as a dead rubber as far as either side is concerned. Opportunities await - With the series already won, there is room to experiment, and if the top order happens to falter for once, it opens the door for the likes of Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul, plus the all-rounders further down, to finally get some time in the middle. Worth remembering that Rahul and everyone below him in the order haven't faced a single ball across the first two games. The pace worry - We have seen a number of South Africa's quicks go down with hamstring injuries lately, and India haven't been spared either, with Prasidh Krishna the latest to join the list. He is ruled out of this finale and is now a doubt for the New Zealand tour too. Anshul Kamboj has been pulled straight out of the India A red-ball game against Australia A and flown in as cover. With Mohammed Siraj already sitting on the bench, this looks more like insurance against any last-minute scare than a direct replacement. Progress despite the scoreline - West Indies will take plenty from how they batted in Guwahati despite the defeat. Three centuries and a highest-ever ODI score of 405 is nothing to scoff at. The frustrating bit, though, is that they probably left a few runs out there, managing just 76 in the final 10 overs after setting themselves up so well. That is the kind of thing Shai Hope would have brought up in the dressing room afterwards as a lesson to bank as they build towards the World Cup Qualifiers. The new ball challenge - Justin Greaves, their centurion from the opener, missed the second game with a calf injury and remains a doubt here too, and his absence has cost them a bowling option across both matches. That said, conditions in Guwahati gave their attack precious little to work with, so it would be harsh to pin everything on them. Even so, taking wickets upfront with the new ball is the one non-negotiable if they are to put up any sort of fight against this Indian lineup. Alzarri Joseph, who has leaked runs at 10 an over through the series so far, will be the man most eager to turn things around. Form (Last 5 completed ODIs, most recent first) - IND - WWLLW | WI - LLWLL. Another run fest? A whopping 811 runs were scored in Guwahati, the third-highest aggregate in an ODI overall and the second-highest in an ODI in India. Considering the reputation the PCA International Cricket Stadium has already built for itself, another high-scoring affair would hardly come as a surprise. This will be the first men's ODI at the venue, but the IPL earlier this year showed that batters can dominate here, with the ground producing the second-highest run rate. So, expect another surface where the batters could have plenty of fun, with the bowlers likely needing to work hard for their rewards.
