Right then, 168 feels just about par, and the way Bangladesh bowled in the last two overs could prove decisive by the end of the night. They chased 169 against Sri Lanka to kickstart their Super Four campaign, and that is the target they are facing tonight as well but they are without the experience of Litton Das in this game. What was noticeable was that as the ball got older, it became harder to find the big shots compared to the Powerplay with the hard new ball. The Tigers will be looking to get a strong start in the chase, while India will be on the lookout for early wickets, which have eluded them so far. Back in a bit for the second essay.

Just when it looked ominous for Bangladesh, Rishad Hossain’s double strike provided the breakthrough and slowed India’s charge. He then made his presence felt in the field as well, playing a key role in the run-out of Abhishek Sharma, which really put the brakes on the scoring. From there, Bangladesh made further inroads and kept the scoring in check. Hardik Pandya helped India inch close to the 170-mark, but thanks to the efforts of Mohammad Saifuddin and Mustafizur Rahman at the death, India were restricted to 168, with only 13 runs coming off the final two overs.

Excellent final over from Mohammad Saifuddin, and that caps off a terrific effort from Bangladesh to pull things back. India’s innings really was a tale of two halves. The first 10 overs - 96/2, while the next 10 overs - 72/4. After opting to bowl first, Bangladesh showed promise in the opening couple of overs, but it all unravelled once Abhishek Sharma found his rhythm. The left-hander launched a blistering assault that left the Tigers under serious pressure, as India raced to 72 without loss in the Powerplay.

SKY swings to help it away and there seems to be a clear deflection as the ball goes behind. The keeper, Jaker Ali dives to his left full-length and takes the catch. Bangladesh go up in unison but the umpire is unmoved. It is sent upstairs by Jaker and the UltraEdge shows a clear spike when the ball is next to the bat. The on-field decision gets overturned to OUT. A good comeback over from the Fizz after going for 17 runs in his first over. Another underwhelming stint with the bat from Suryakumar Yadav as he goes for a scratchy 5 (11). 112/2 becomes 114/4 for India.

Caught behind! Or is it? Jaker Ali does take a diving catch to his left, and Mustafizur Rahman appeals for caught behind. Ali does not look confident enough. He then sends it upstairs for a review. UltraEdge shows a clear spike when the ball is next to the bat or the glove. OUT!

Hossain cuts it off with a dive to his left but sticks out his right hand to grab the ball. Gets rid of the ball immediately as he gets up on his feet and throws it on the bounce towards the bowling end. Mustafizur Rahman is quick to turn around and get up to the stumps at the bowling end. The throw is at a good height and near the stumps. Fizz collects and disturbs the stumps. The third umpire is called in. Rahman goes at it with both hands but the ball nestles in his left hand. He brings both hands close to the stumps and breaks the stumps with the left hand, the hand he had the ball in before the right hand makes contact with the stumps. Abhishek is well short despite the dive. Abhishek Sharma looks dejected as he walks back for a superb 75 off just 37 deliveries. India are 112/3 down now.

Is that a run out? Abhishek looks in trouble. The side-on replay shows that Mustafizur Rahman collects the ball and breaks the stumps and Abhishek is out by a considerable margin. However, just to be doubly sure, the third umpire requests for another angle to check whether 'The Fizz' collected the ball cleanly while breaking the stumps. And the verdict is that he has. OUT!

DRINKS BREAK! Bangladesh have done well to pull things back after India’s onslaught in the Powerplay. In the first six overs, Bangladesh conceded 72 without any wickets, but the next four brought two wickets for them while conceding just 24 runs. The Bangla Tigers will be eager to remove Abhishek Sharma quickly after the break and expose another new batter to keep the scoring in check. Tonight's surface here in Dubai has been one of the better batting tracks of the competition, and with the platform already set, India will be disappointed if they do not push past 200 from this position.

Hence, the bat gets twisted at the point of contact and the ball is sliced towards long off. Tanzim Hasan Sakib stationed in the deep, moves a bit to his right, judges the trajectory well and takes a good catch at the edge of the ropes. Shubman Gill departs for 29 (19) and India are 77/1.

Ravi Shastri joins and points out that there is some grass, to which Doull mentions the ground staff being happy with the moisture content in the pitch. Ravi then points out that the reason the seamers have matched the spinners is because the ball has swung, and the bowlers have taken pace off to achieve success. Doull ends by stressing that putting good runs on the board is crucial.

The stand-in captain of Bangladesh, Jaker Ali, first informs that Litton Das misses out in this vital game due to an injury he suffered during practice. Adds they are really excited to play against the best team in the world. Mentions as a team, they are doing well and playing according to their strengths. Further tells that the surface looks good to bat and they will try to restrict them. Informs that they are going with four changes in the side.

Playing on back-to-back days in these energy-sapping conditions is tough, but Bangladesh will have to rise to the challenge. They have beaten India only once in this format in 17 meetings and will have to defy the odds. India’s middle order has looked scratchy, and Bangladesh will be keen to exploit that and target early wickets. Pakistan’s win over Sri Lanka last evening has left the islanders walking a tightrope. An Indian win tonight will secure their place in the final while also knocking Sri Lanka out of the race. The Men in Blue began their campaign with a couple of near-perfect games but have since struggled to produce equally polished performances, though they continue to find ways to get over the line. More than anything, they will want to improve their fielding standards after multiple dropped catches in the previous game against Pakistan.

The Super Four stage of the 2025 Asia Cup moves into game number four, where India face Bangladesh at the Dubai International Stadium. Both teams come into this clash with a win in their opening Super Four fixture and will now be aiming to move a step closer to sealing a spot in the final with another victory. India remain the only unbeaten side in the tournament, having won all four of their games so far. Their Super Four opener saw them get the better of arch-rivals Pakistan. It was not a perfect game as several catches went down and the bowling unit looked below its usual high standards. Jasprit Bumrah, typically reliable, was unusually expensive. However, India found a saviour in Shivam Dube, who stepped up with the ball to pull things back after Pakistan had made a strong start in the first 10 overs. On one of the better batting surfaces in Dubai this Asia Cup, Dube’s spell was one of the biggest positives for the Men in Blue to take away. With the bat, Abhishek Sharma and Shubman Gill broke the back of the chase with a 105-run opening stand, with the former going on to score 74. Abhishek’s breezy starts have ensured that the middle order has not had much to do and, as a result, has not really been tested under pressure. Sanju Samson, in particular, is yet to shrug off the cobwebs and will be eager for another opportunity to spend time in the middle and gain some confidence. On the other hand, Bangladesh will be riding high on confidence after their win over Sri Lanka to kickstart their Super Four campaign. The victory was particularly significant given that they had lost to the same opposition earlier in the group stage, and in a convincing fashion. Mustafizur Rahman showed his class at the death, restricting Sri Lanka to a manageable total. Saif Hassan and Tawhid Hridoy then laid the foundation for the chase, although some ordinary batting while closing in on the finish line left room for improvement. Coming into the tournament, inconsistency at the top had been an issue for the Bangla Tigers. That concern has eased somewhat with Saif and Tawhid among the runs, though Tanzid Hasan and captain Litton Das will need to step up against a strong Indian side.
