The pick of the bowlers for Gujarat Titans - Kagiso Rabada (3/33) is up for a chat. Rabada says that he is glad that his hard work has paid off. Adds that they had the opposition under pressure, but Tilak's good knock changed that. Feels that chasing 200 is doable. When asked about him bowling quick consistently, Kagiso jokes that it's because they are ramping up the speed guns. He feels good while bowling and is just happy things are working out. Kagiso adds that some days you bowl well and get wickets, other days you don't. Further says that you just have to show up and can't control the outcome.

Top-order stutter to spectacular century - After stumbling to 44/3 inside the Powerplay, the Mumbai Indians stabilized through a crucial 52-run stand between Naman Dhir and Tilak Varma. While Pandya struggled at the other end, Varma flipped a switch, accelerating from a sluggish 19 off 22 to a breathtaking 101 not out off 45 balls, scoring the joint-fastest hundred for MI and single-handedly destroying the GT attack to set a formidable target.

Varma's ton flips the script - Despite the Gujarat Titans dictating the first 15 overs, the Mumbai Indians have posted a formidable total fueled by Tilak Varma's spectacular maiden IPL century. Varma's explosive gear shift sparked a late rampage, plundering 77 runs in the final five overs to completely flip the script and hand the Titans a demanding chase.

Prasidh Krishna to Tilak Varma, FOUR! HUNDRED FOR TILAK VARMA! Maiden IPL ton for Tilak, and it could not have come at a better time for the Mumbai Indians. Prasidh Krishna digs it in short with Kagiso Rabada at square leg up inside the circle. This is on middle and Tilak swivels and gets on top of the bounce. He nails the pull over square leg and picks up a boundary to reach the milestone. Varma is off on a celebratory run and takes the helmet off before pulling out the 'cut out the noise' gesture, and then looks at the heavens to thank the one above. A 45-ball hundred for Varma, the joint-fastest for MI in the IPL, drawing level with the great Sanath Jayasuriya. 22 runs off the final over and MI finish with 199/5.

Prasidh Krishna to Tilak Varma, SIX! Innovative and mighty effective! Prasidh Krishna misses his mark as he goes searching for the yorker. It ends up being a full toss, on the off stump at 142 kph. Tilak sinks to a knee and uses the pace on the ball. He directs the scoop over deep fine leg for a six. Varma moves to 97 with a ball left in the innings.

Mohammed Siraj to Hardik Pandya, OUT! CAUGHT! Hardik Pandya holes out. A scratchy stay for the MI skipper. Siraj attempts the yorker but it comes out as a low full toss, on middle. Pandya gets the front leg out of the way and hangs low to swing it across the line. Gets it low on the bat and he does not get the timing on the shot. Glenn Phillips moves swiftly to his right at deep mid-wicket and takes a low catch.

Mohammed Siraj to Hardik Pandya, The on-field call of not out stays but that takes nothing away from the quality of the ball. A searing yorker from Siraj, tailing back in at the toes. Pandya clears the front leg and tries to jam it out. The ball catches him on the back pad before going away on the off side as the batters cross. Siraj goes up in an appeal for LBW but it is turned down. Gill asks Buttler if the ball has hit Hardik in line. Shubman eventually takes the review. The replays show a deflection of the inside edge and the UltraEdge confirms the same.

Shubman Gill has challenged an LBW decision, given Not Out on the field. The UltraEdge shows a clear spike when the ball is close to the bat. A wasted review.

Mohammed Siraj to Hardik Pandya, FOUR! Up and over! Siraj bowls the off-cutter, on a shortish length, outside off. Hardik takes it on off the front foot. One hand comes off the bat handle but Pandya manages to flat bat it over mid off for a four.

The physio comes running in to check on Tilak Varma. He has been hit on the box at a serious pace and is looking in a lot of pain. Tilak gets up but still looks to be in a bit of discomfort, but he will continue. Also, Mohammed Siraj to bowl the penultimate over.

Ashok Sharma to Tilak Varma, Ouch, Tilak cops a painful blow. Sharma switches to over the wicket and pulls the length back, on middle and leg. Tilak swivels for the pull but the ball is not that short and Varma wears it right on the box. Tilak is down on the floor in agonising pain.

Ashok Sharma to Tilak Varma, SIX! Back-to-back sixes for Tilak, and he really enjoyed this hit as did Hardik. Varma throws a punch in the air and mutters a few words to himself and gets a few words of encouragement from the skipper too. Sharma misses his mark. Right in the hitting arc, at pace, around off. Ashok Sharma to Tilak Varma, SIX! Wow, Tilak Varma is rampant. 20 runs off the over with a couple of balls still to go. Ashok serves the slower one at 106 kph, this is right in the slot, on off. Tilak reaches out in front and collapses his back knee to clobber it over mid-wicket for half a dozen.

Ashok Sharma to Tilak Varma, FOUR! Not from the middle but he gets it through! On a length at pace, outside off. Varma extends his hands to force the drive away. He does not quite middle it but manages to beat mid off to his left for another boundary.

Sharma bashes the hard length but offers width on off. Tilak needs no second invitation and he flays it over backward point for a biggie.

Rashid Khan to Hardik Pandya, This time, they go for two and make it. Angled into the pads, on a good length. Hardik turns it using his wrists between deep mid-wicket and long on and comes charging back for the second run. End of a wicketless outing for Rashid. He goes for 15 runs in his first over.

Rashid Khan to Tilak Varma, Looped up, on middle. Varma pushes out in front and smears it to the left of long on. There was a possibility for the second run but the batters are happy with one.

Prasidh Krishna to Tilak Varma, Prasidh gets away with it! Krishna slips in a high full toss, on off. Tilak is taken aback and he flashes at it. Gets it off the outer half to deep third for a single. Varma has a word with the skipper at the other end and takes the review. He wants the height to be checked. The graphics show that the ball is passing Tilak at 1.03 metres and Varma's waist height is also 1.03 metres. So, the on-field decision will stand. It is a fair delivery.

Strategic Break! Mumbai Indians are really struggling to get going here. Naman Dhir was looking good but unfortunately got out at the wrong time, and now the skipper and Tilak Varma need to take responsibility while they still have Sherfane Rutherford, who can come in and give them a good finish. Gujarat Titans have been excellent with the ball, especially Kagiso Rabada, and this was the phase when they started to chip in with wickets against KKR, and will like to do the same, keeping Mumbai to as low as possible. STRATEGIC BREAK! Gujarat Titans will be the happier of the two sides with how the first 9 overs have panned out. For the second game in a row, they have bowled well upfront and are now looking to chip away through the middle phase. Mumbai Indians have managed to get a partnership going after losing three in the Powerplay, and Naman Dhir will be keen to convert his start. There was some seam movement with the new ball, and the odd ball has stayed low, but how it behaves as the ball loses its hardness remains to be seen. MI will also need to factor in the possibility of dew later in the game as they approach this innings.
