His parting words were full of hope. "I hope you’ll turn toward the problem of your choosing ... Because you must. I hope you’ll drop everything ... Because you must And I hope you’ll solve it. Because you must."
The lessons she intends to impart are clear: "I encourage you to be kind. I do this to set the example I wish to with the tremendous privilege I have in giving you this commencement speech today"
She concluded with a profound advice. "I see your life as already artful, waiting, just waiting and ready for you to make it art."
He went on to speak about college but reminded that life is something one needs to build. "College is something you complete. Life is something you experience," he said
He went on to explicate a few rules he lives by like- "You need to know that nothing replaces actually doing the work...take thoughtful risks...always be intentional about the words you choose...is to always know that you are enough" and finally "take the responsibility to liberate others."
"Don’t stress out about the white space, the path you can’t draw because therein lies both the surprises and the opportunities," she said

"When you can't remember why you're hurt, that's when you're healed," the actor said
"I stand where I stand because somebody prayed for me and dreamed for me and I come trailing the breath of the ancestors. My mentors Toni Morrison and Maya Angelou have said to me that your crown has been paid for. Put it on your head and wear it," she said.
"Part of what artistes do is observe human behaviour and without judgment, reflect back to those watching. It seems to me to show how we are all connected, how we are all the same, how our circumstances may sometimes vary vastly but at the core, we are all linked by the joys and sorrows of life."
