While some doctors at YCM Hospital have already left after receiving better salaries at other hospitals, “others are in mood to quit YCMH if no decision is taken regarding their appointment," said a doctor.
The pre-election arrangements, however, may spring a surprise as the NCP and BJP are likely to join hands in one of the two civic wards. During the 2017 civic polls, NCP and Shiv Sena had contested against each other.
Yashwantrao Chavan Memorial (YCM) Hospital's deputy medical superintendent Dr Shankar Jadhav, who heads the audit team of the government-appointed committee, said the hospital has been asked to refund the amount as they found it has “overcharged patients”.
"Coronavirus cases are rising rapidly... if we don't want the virus to spread, we should avoid celebrations. There should be no installation or immersion processions in the city," said Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar.

The PCMC administration, however, said there won't be many changes. “We have been putting restrictions that are done in red zone. Curbs like operation of shops on odd-even dates are already in practice,” Shravan Hardikar said.
The committee also directed all hospitals not to demand advance deposit from Covid-19 patients. "The priority for hospitals should be to admit the patients first and then inform the relatives about the treatment and billing aspect," the committee said.
In his complaint to the CMO, Sagar Charan said that large number of deaths of Covid-19 patients at YCM hospital seems to be primarily because there was a severe shortage of specialists resulting in junior doctors handling the patients.
RTI activist Vijay Kumbhar said, “After the transfer of PMC chief Shekhar Gaikwad... we had served a legal notice to the state government seeking reasons behind the transfer. Now, we will serve another legal notice seeking the reasons behind the transfer of Ram."
