Restrictions had been imposed under Section 144 in the town on December 14 to prevent protests over the arrest of Shambhulal Regar in Rajsamand, accused of murdering labourer Afrazul Khan and sharing a video of the killing.
Regar, 36, hacked Mohammed Afrazul to death on December 6, even roping in his 14-year-old nephew to film the killing. He later posted videos of the killing along with inflammatory and communal comments to defend the act.
Family of accused claims he is a drug addict, police in Rajasthan deny. "It appears that Regar meticulously planned the crime. We have found videos on his cellphone which were shot a day before the crime, in which he has made more inflammatory statements,” police said.
