The old building located at Janpath road is set to be demolished as part of the Central Vista Redevelopment project. It has temporarily been shifted to the Janpath hotel, which has been renovated for the purpose.
At the Anand Vihar Inter State Bus Terminal, a large crowd of migrants gathered with bags packed, their destinations mostly Bihar, Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh. The chorus: “We don’t want to be stranded again.”
The facility had been opened in July last year when the city saw a shortage of ICU beds, and had the capacity to admit 1,000 patients. On Monday, it is expected to restart with 250 ICU-ventilator beds, DRDO officials said.
The number of bodies received at North MCD’s grounds have also increased in comparison to the same period last year -- April 1 to April 15. Last year, there were 12 bodies whose last rites were performed as per Covid protocol, while this year the number stands at 224.

On Monday, Sisodia said that of the estimated 10 lakh construction workers in Delhi, 2.12 lakh are currently in the government’s “registration network”. An awareness campaign will also be carried out to apprise workers about the benefits of registering with the board, and 45 camps will be set up to carry out the registrations.
