“The civic body plans to have a parking management system in place... and a Parking Management Cell comprising experts would oversee all tasks related to planning, implementation and operations of such a system,” said a PMC traffic planner.
On the expenditure front, the capital expenses of the PMC has increased by over eight times, from Rs 353 crore in 2003-04 to Rs 2,926 crore in 2017-18. The priority has been on the development of roads and providing civic amenities to meet the demands of local residents.
For bringing in transparency, accountability and efficiency in civic works, the committee has urged the civic body to suggest amendments or inclusions to be made in the Maharashtra Municipal Corporation Act.
