The Metro service was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 6. Phase one of Pune Metro rail will be 33.1 km long and include two routes — Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad to Swargate.

Pune Metro has released a pamphlet titled 'Metro Etiquettes' with a set of instructions to keep the trains and station premises clean and make the travel hassle-free for the public.

"The PMC has withdrawn all restrictions imposed through powers with the Disaster Management Authority under Disaster Management Act 2005," said municipal commissioner Vikram Kumar. It would be applicable in jurisdiction of PMC, Kirkee Cantonment Board (KCB), and Pune Cantonment Board (PCB).

The civic administration had tabled Rs 8,592 crore draft budget in standing committee on March 7 which had to be finalised and tabled in the general body for final approval. The term of the general body ended on Monday but the standing committee finalised the draft budget of Rs 9,716 crore.

The first medical college of PMC, named Bharatratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical College, will be under Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik and managed by PMC Education Trust.

While allocation of most of the capital expenditure is for the ongoing projects undertaken by the civic body, a proposal has been made to develop basic infrastructure in the newly merged 23 villages.

Currently, trains will be run on two routes: 5-km from Garware college to Vanaz station and 7-km from PCMC to Phugewadi, both with five stations. The minimum fare has been kept at Rs 10 and the maximum fare is Rs 20, while Rs 30 is for a return journey.
