With the Opposition still in disarray after the Lok Sabha poll drubbing and weakened even more due to desertions of several leaders in the run-up to the upcoming polls, the state polls are expected to be a battle of supremacy between the BJP and its ally Shiv Sena.
Shivajirao Jondhale, city collector and district election officer, said, “For booths in the open, we have set up tents covered with plastic. We are hopeful that the voter turnout will not be affected.”
While in most elections the public gets to choose which issues really matter, in the present election the BJP has managed to ensure that the electoral narrative has not strayed from the twin messages of nationalism and national security.
According to police, the dismissed officer has been identified as Rohidas Pawar, who was tasked with taking Kadam to JJ hospital after he complained of uneasiness. Kadam is a former NCP legislator, contesting the Assembly election as an Independent candidate from Mohol constituency.
