Imran Khan survives assasination bid during rally

Reacting to the incident, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the firing in Gujranula, Allahwala Chowk, and called for an immediate report on the incident. Khan, 70, sustained bullet injury on his leg when a gunman opened fire on the container-mounted-truck carrying him during his protest march, killing one person. The former prime minister was out of danger.(Reuters)

In a statement, the Punjab police said that seven people were injured and one person was killed during the attack. (Reuters)

The attempt on Khan’s life now puts even Bajwa and Sharif in a tighter corner. It is not clear yet if the long march will go on, but with the PTI leader in hospital and undergoing surgery, it seems unlikely to continue, an expert explains. (Reuters)
