
Disney has announced that its Disney+ streaming service will launch in India on March 29. It will be rebranded as Disney+ Hotstar. Thus bringing its entire content library, including over 500 films, 7,500 TV episodes and exclusive shows from the Disney Universe to the new platform. From March 29, Hotstar will be rebranded as Disney+ Hotstar, thus adding Disney shows to the already huge library of TV shows, movies, live sports and Hotstar specials present on the platform. Here's a look at what it will be competing against in the country.
Amazon Prime subscription offers customers access to its Prime Video streaming service at Rs 999 per year. Other than this the subscription also includes other benefits such as faster delivery and exclusive deals on Amazon as well as Amazon Prime Music and Prime Reading.
Netflix is currently the most expensive streaming platform currently available in India. Its plans start at Rs 199 per month (mobile-only) and going up to Rs 799 a month for Premium subscription. It offers users a wide library of TV shows and movies like Sacred Games, Titans and more.
Apple currently offers its Apple TV+ subscription at Rs 99 per month. As of now, the company does not offer consumers any yearly plans. Apple is focusing on providing consumers with original content and is not putting its focus on curating content like other platforms. Its lineup of shows include The Morning Show, See, For All Mankind and more.
Zee5 just like Hotstar and Amazon Prime is priced at Rs 999 per year. The monthly subscription costs Rs 99. Apart from this, the Rs 198 monthly plan bundles a Gaana+ monthly subscription, whereas, the Rs 49 per month plan provides consumers access to regional content.
SonyLIV provides consumers with a weekly plan of Rs 29, a Rs 99 monthly plan, Rs 299 half-yearly plan and Rs 499 yearly plan. The content library includes access to shows, exclusive series, movies and sports content.
