After electing to field first, UAE got off to an ideal start with the ball as they got rid of dangerous Hashim Amla in the third over of the innings. Amla's early departure brough Rilee Rossouw to the crease, and he stitched a crucial partnership with Quinton de Kock, who got some runs under his belt. The stand was worth 68 before Amjad Javed scalped De Kock. (Source: AP)

De Kock's wicket was the one UAE wouldn't have enjoyed much as it was followed by AB de Villiers arrival in the middle. The dasher continued with his good run with the bat, and gave the score a much needed push. (Source: AP)

After early wickets, AB and David Miller took the opposition on, and started scoring freely in the middle. While Miller managed a brisk 49, AB came agonisingly close to his third World Cup 2015 hundred. (Source: AP)

Looking all set to reach the three-figure mark, AB was scalped by Kamran Shahzad for a 82-ball 99. South Africa further pushed the total with Farhaan Behardien's 31-ball 64 at the death, and ended at 341/6. (Source: AP)

Chasing 342 against a bowling attack led by Dale Steyn was never an easy task. UAE had no answers to Morne Morkel's pace and bounce, and the minnows kept losing wickets at regular intervals. (Source: AP)

While it was an on-off day for Steyn, the bowlers around him did the job for the Proteas. (Source: AP)

In the end, UAE fell short of the target by 146 runs and South Africa sealed a quarters spot. (Source: AP)
