
The BMC announced its budget allocations on Wednesday. We take a look at how much money is going where.

is the total outlay, a 10.54 per cent rise from the current financial year. The budget estimates are also 39.93 per cent more than the revised estimates for 2015-16

Rs 12,874.78 crore is the allocation for capital expenditure, 8.52 per cent higher than the current year’s budget estimates. Revised estimates of capital expenditure for the year 2015-16 is Rs 7630.60 crore, against the budget estimate of Rs 11,864 crore

Rs 1,466 crore is the amount allocated for asphalting roads in the city

Rs 2,512 crore for Solid Waste Management Department, including capital works of Rs 352.45 crore

Rs 3693.74 crore for medical and health services. Rs 97.50 crore for Slum Sanitation Programme

Rs 1,340 crore has been allocated for cement concrete roads. This will include the GMLR (Rs 130 cr)

Rs 765.57 crore for storm water drains. Under the long-pending Brimstowad Project, a provision of Rs 233 crore

Rs 1,000 crorefor the biggest project in the roads department, the coastal road, five times that in last budget

Rs 9,188 crore is the allocation for various civic services to the urban poor and improving the standard of these services under various heads

Rs 581.58 crore for Fire Brigade, including ` 323.81 crore for capital expenditure. This includes funds for a breathing apparatus gallery in Wadala, which will enhance firemen’s skill in working in smoke-filled situations and 16 fire engines

Rs 500.23 crore for the development and maintenance of gardens. Total 150 playground and 30 gardens across the city will be developed

Rs 10 crorehas been allocated for building a new Natygriha in the city

Rs 10 crore for the illumination of municipal head-office with decorative lights

Rs 8 crore for Make in India, Make in Maharashtra, Reimagining Mumbai, Maximum Mumbai and Magnificent Mumbai campaigns

Rs 4 crore for a viewing gallery at Malbar Hill control room to promote tourism

Rs 3 crore for celebrating the 125th birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar. There is provision for Annabhau Sathe Jayanti and Sant Rohidas Jayanti too
